ITT: Idiots defending Apple.

Their products are overpriced and their company image is complete bullshit based on user ignorance. Just such a bad company and the "quality" of their hardware is severely overhyped.

Their macbooks used to be the best laptops around 2008- 2012 after that they started sacraficing chassis strength for thiness, My cousin actually bent his macbook just by resting his arm on it.

I think the trend of being the thinnest possible is stupid. At some point, there is no more benefit of being thinner but it starts making it weaker.

Yeah that is a good point. Makes me want to not buy a mac book again. However, trying to get OSX on another laptop brand is not on my todo list.

I'm not going to say that their hardware isn't bad.

The appeal of Apple products is that they're polished, refined, and work right out of the box. They're simple and elegant, and even though they may not be as customizable or powerful as Android phones, they're still damn good. With iPhones, you know that everything works and will work.

It's this kind of delusion that so many Apple users have that irritate me to no end. I've been working in an IT helpdesk for over two years now at my university and I assure you that Apple devices (laptops AND mobile devices) fail just as often as their counterparts. When Apple devices DO fail by the way, they're typically much harder to recover without altogether swapping them out or formatting them because of how everything is locked down into the system and how Apple devices typically lack at least to some degree the administrative tools that you can get on PC's (unless you feel like cracking open a bash shell, which most Apple users have no idea how to use).

work right out of the box.

As does any android or in fact any mobile I ever owned. That is just a place holder argument. I had far more trouble with both app compatibility and getting apps for certain stuff back on my Iphone 3 then I ever had before or after. And before I had a N95 8Gb with Sambyia ( not sure on the spelling) which meant each phone had there own costume apps and no other worked on it. It is shiny I give you that. The iOS is probably the most shiny thing there is but simple and user-friendly only apply if you really try to not use it for anything past the Ipod touch would give you. Which a lot of people do.

A couple years ago when I took an introductory photography course, there was this lady who was probably in her late 40s, early 50s; she was the typical hippie-type, slap-a-bird-picture-on-something-and-call-it-art kind of bitch, she would have fit in perfectly in Portland, anyway, one day I overheard her say that "Macs are for us real artists".

It really is incredible how Apple has managed to--through marketing--make the people who own their products feel way smarter than they actually are, and that makes them super fucking obnoxious.

I built a badass gaming rig (i7 4790k 4.0ghz cpu, 8gb of 2400mhz ram, and a geforce gtx 960 with 4gb of memory), with a 32" led 1080p tv for a monitor for ~$1600 (and I ordered it pre-built at that). To get the same with Apple I'd be paying well over 2 grand. It's ridiculous.

Well, when you consider the price difference for the same specs, I do say fuck Apple.

I jump around between ecosystems all the time. Right now I own both. They're the same goddamn thing. Any arguing between them is practically useless. Only major difference is AOSP and customizable ROM's. If this is your thing then you already own an android based system.

mac products and some android/windows products are similar, though Macs are a tad bit weaker. oh, and they also cost upwards of 5 times as much. oh, and they're also smack dab in the middle of ignorant, monkey see monkey do culture. pretty much the same, right?

It's hilarious to see people claim that Apple's products are superior.

Remind me which phone was the one that could be bent in your back pocket? The G4? The OPO? Oh wait, it was the iPhone 6+.

People shit on macs, but where can you get a 13 inch, terabyte solid state, i7 processor, with 2560 by 1600 resolution, and a trackpad that doesn't fuck up with sweaty hands?

Partially asking because I don't want to shell out 2,600 for a mac, but I have yet to find a PC alternative.

Have an iphone 5 for 3-4 years now, the thing is built like a tank. Runs as good as the day I got it.

Marketing at it's best. Just make things look flashier and people will spend more on it.

If Apple were 5 times better than Android there might be a reason for paying 5 times more for the experience.

You could say the same about the Intel xeon e5 an an average Intel i7.

You can browse Facebook on both just fine, but you always pay a lot more for the best of the best. Even if its just a little better

Apple products are really for the uninformed and due to the low marketshare it's in a developer's interest to develop for android.

Your last statement really rings home with me. I prefer Android in pretty much every way, but mostly coming down to price and having had repaired iPhones and Androids, I'd rather have an android.

I've got zero problem buying my apps and zero issue paying up to $20 for a good one. Which is the only reason I'm considering making my next phone an iphone6 or 6s if that's the next incarnation. A lot of the apps I want I could be waiting months to years for them to make their way to Android based on the time it took for final fantasy tactics to get to android which was just a few months ago and has been on iOS for years.

Have you looked into Alienware, Maingear, Puget...

Edit: just checked you might have to give a little on drove space or price but Alienware has a 3600x1800 touchscreen and Maingear has a 4k option.

if you can't find a PC alternative then you don't know where to look, and don't know anything about real computing, and sweaty hands can be solved with a small rag from the dollar store.

This is nothing new. Apple owners have been conditioned to believe they need to spend more. Case in point: Fifteen years ago, Diablo 2 was released. The PC box was $39.95. The Mac box was $52.95 (or thereabouts). The discs inside both boxes were identical. I bought the PC version and installed it on the G4 tower at work. Hybrid CDs, but the Mac faithful were paying more for the same game. It's a shame.
