It's more that rape is not taken seriously when it happens to people in prison at all. There's plenty of rape in female prisons, too, and no one appears to care about that either.

"...some people tell themselves it's okay to take actions we abhor as long as it's against someone we don't like."

So pretty much SRS and every other SJW? :P

The misconception that good people are always good and evil people are always evil. The fact that people who do bad things might otherwise be a good person except for this one aspect of their personality causes much cognitive dissonance.

Very similar to the Ashley Madison leak. People have their lives destroyed? People commit suicides? Fuck them, serves them well, for not being monogamous!

Well some people only consider sex to be between a penis and a vagina. So I wouldn't be surprised if they thought rape in female prison wasn't even sex.

Sexual assault is sexual assault. "Rape" is a specific form of it, but far from the only one.

Actually, they don't care if you're about to die, much less if you got a surprise dick in whatever hole.

Feminist told me women can't rape, so rape can't happen in female prisons.

Wow. That is in amazingly poor taste even by the Post's standards. I'm amazed that made it all the way through print.

I think someone sat around all day trying to come up with a Subway-themed joke and decided it took them too long to think of to not use it.

Not even, just because it's distasteful doesn't mean it'd show up on 4chan. They only joke if something has actual humorous value.

4chan has a million posts a day, and maybe 6 are funny, and you can see them all on Reddit, Voat the next day, and then Facebook two weeks later.

What he did was not rape in the same sense. Despicable but non violent.

Prison rape is actual forced rape. But for some reason, we accept prison rape as "okay"

When have you ever heard of a female prison rape joke? It doesn't exist. While I agree with you that it isn't taken seriously for either sex in prison, for men it is routinely made light of.

It's even where the phrase "rape culture" originated; it was initially used to describe the surprising degree to which rape in prison was viewed as "normal", or at least business-as-usual.

[–] Chompchompers 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

I agree with everything you said but the despicable part. What part of it was despicable? He wanted to have sex so he had sex with someone who was willing. She was also at the age of consent in the place they did it. And we still don't know the ages of the people in the "child" porn.

[–] weezkitty 2 points -1 points (+1|-2) ago

He paid the girl for sex for one thing. He was recorded telling a reporter how "hot" he thought middle school girls were and that he wanted to have sex with them. He also asked the reporter to install a camera and record her kids for him. He also asked his friend to produce child porn for him.

And even if it is legal, I would consider a 30 something seeking out 16 year old girls for sex to be despicable.

I think it's more the general belief that anyone who's in prison deserves what happens to them there. Society will only care about criminals in prison to a certain extent before they could not care less.

For purposes of both free speech and comedy, I understand the idea that no subject should be taboo. I understand that anything that gets folks talking about a serious issue can be seen as a good thing.

That being said, rape is a very serious matter, regardless of who it happens to. It's not ok to treat it as some abomination when it happens to women or children, but not take it seriously when it happens to a man. Prison rape is not a joke, nor is it justice. It's still rape. The idea behind someone being locked away in prison is that the prison sentence and the reduction of basic freedoms is the administration of justice; that's the punishment.

Just because you're a criminal doesn't mean you deserve to have illegal and deplorable acts done to you.

Our prison system is fucked, no 'ifs', 'ands', or 'buts' about it. The problem is that it's all about making money and not at all about remediating folks as we claim it is.

The claim you make about not wanting to go is definitely felt by many, many people. That fear is one of the control methods used against us as a population, and one of the reasons they won't reform the system to ensure people aren't being raped in prison.

I think rather than punishing them we should be teaching them how to live in society without having to harm anyone. All he did was bang a hooker and get some videos of someone banging whatever the media is willing to label a "child". A "child" to the media could be 17, could be 16, could be 3. We don't know the age. This is a very much normal member of society...

[–] 30GoingOn13 2 points 3 points (+5|-2) ago

Oh you're right, sleeping with 2 minors (16 or under, paying for at least one situation) and possessing child pornography involving 12 individuals (some of which are as young as 6) is extremely normal.

He didn't simply "bang a hooker" as you so eloquently put it.

I really hope this is just a shitty attempt at trolling.

The real problem, I think, is the difference in approach between men and women. If a man is raped, it's hilarious. If a woman is raped, it's despicable. What's being criticized isn't the humor, it's the culture that leads to that humor being funny in the first place. The solution isn't to ban the humor, it's to create changes in the culture that make the humor irrelevant.

Honestly I think its funny. I think if the gender was reversed it would be funny. I think neither should be such a holy untouchable subject.

Didn't he just like... pay some underage prostitutes that would've been of a legal age in certain US states anyway?

[–] lasercow 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

if you pay for sex with someone under 18 there are all kinds of charges they can throw at you even if you are in a state where that minor is above the age of consent.

I'm aware, that what he did was wrong from a legal standpoint. Just pointing out that there are moral grey areas in this world
