There was this one terrible youtube video of a fire in a nightclub that was over capacity. Everyone went to the double exit doors before being crammed in there and blocking it. The fire raged on in the back and you could hear peoples screaming, trapped in the crowd of people jammed in the door. Terrible stuff. Usually in the "whats the worst youtube/sound/video/link that you remember?" posts.

That was probably the station nightclub fire in Warwick, RI. I remember seeing that video. So horrible.

If anyone is interested in these sorts of events there is a great book called The Unthinkable: Who survives when disaster strikes - and why. There is a chapter on fires and one on crush events.

In 2011 we had a nasty earthquake in Christchurch I became quite interested in why people react in such differant ways in situations like this after seeing those reactions first hand and some of the weird thoughts that cross your mind. For example the first thing I thought when I saw somebody who was bleeding from the head with their eyeball hanging out of their eye-socket was "If the zombie apocolypse started now I wouldn't be able to tell zombies from earthquake victims." The rest of my thoughts were more sane and rational, but that moment will always stick with me.

Well I went off on a tangent there, sorry about that.
