I love the idea of sodding the roofs, but damn those things must be heavy, especially with a foot of snow on them. Although you might expect the sod to retain the heat from the home better, so easier to clear it when you do get it? Gotta be some good timber framing in those little houses. Beautiful scene.

Roof is birch bark which is waterproof . Grass sod holds the birch bark in place and its heavy so the structure becomes super sound, well-insulated, and naturally waterproof. Lasts basically forever.
