Lions are endangered.
Cows are breed to supply food, and various good.
So we have plenty of cows.
People get upset when an endangered animal is killed for fun. If you want to kill something, go hunt a deer or something that has over populated numbers due to mankind killing off their natural predators, or removing their natural habitat.
Killing is really just killing. But I'd rather kill for food then for fun. You're right cows, lambs, sheep ect. Would likely all be endangered or completely extinct if it wasn't because we bred them.
That still doesn't mean it's OK to wipe out species. For food or for fun. If cows were endangered I'm sure everyone would be outraged too.

The only reason cows aren't endangered because we specifically breed them to be murdered. See: the Buffalo. They are artificially numerous.
So this guy killed something for fun. The rest of us kill things because they taste good. Is that better?
