This is actually a reply to TheTrigger, but when I clicked the reply button, no "Submit comment" button was available. I've saved a screenshot if anybody doubts this.
Your eye piece actually is a microscope, to magnify the virtual image produced by your objective. To make this clearer, aim your telescope at a bright terrestrial scene, take out the eyepiece and cover the opening with a piece of tissue paper and rack the focuser until the image projected onto the tissue is sharp as possible. Examine the image with a regular magnifying glass. Remove the tissue.
