Rules
Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to a website with minimal ads. No blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but albums on image hosting sites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.
No text/self posts, gifs, videos, etc.
No memes, comics, "posters", image macros, etc. Submissions with text overlays, screenshots with large amounts of text, infographics, and similar posts must have emphasis on the picture itself and not the text/chart/symbol/etc.
No gore, porn, or distasteful nudity. This includes jailbait-type material. NSFW content must be marked, but at this time only mods can assign flairs. Please tag @ElNino in any submissions that require marking.
Guidelines
Please try to keep submissions more applicable to another community in the correct subverse, such as /v/politics or /v/funny, with /v/whatever as a catch-all.
Try to avoid reposts. Check the "New" queue to see if what you're posting has already been posted. Reposts will be tagged or removed.
Make some mention of what is in the picture when coming up with your title.
Keep comments civil.
Do not post personal or private information.

List of other recent options
Please try to link directly to the image rather than to the host page (i.e. make the only thing you can see in the browser be the picture itself, no links/comments/etc) and have the URL end with the file type (.png, .jpeg). These aren't required but it seems to make the experience more user friendly for everyone and plays nicer with Voat's inline image viewer.

Hi, it looks like you're new. Welcome to Voat!
Voat is a censorship-free community platform where content is submitted, organized, moderated and voted on (ranked) by the users.
Anon Archived Man on Rooftop with Eleven Men in Formation on His Shoulders, circa 1930. It is a fun example of "postproduction" or photographic manipulation. Keep this in mind when viewing photos from WW2. (historical-nonfiction.tumblr.com)

you can usually tell by inconsistencies in lighting
for example, the mean are front lighted vs the backgrounds is top lighted by an overcast sky
