[–] Kannibal 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

they are building a major dam that will also do the work of the old bridge.

WHAT RELEVANCE!!!!! BWHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

[–] DefinantlyNotATroll 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

I like how the first time i saw this post it was directly above the one youre talking about.

Obligatory: German engineering.

They were great civil engineers, whatever happened to the awesome Roman Empire? Why did they suddenly collapse or fail, I wonder... (Rhetorical Question)

[–] Vic_V 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

Why dont we build stone archway bridges? They last centuries. Ours last decades if that

[–] Fibbideh 0 points 11 points (+11|-0) ago

It's expensive as hell, is very labor intensive, and takes a fuck load of time to build in comparison to steel bridges.

[–] ScreaminMime 0 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago

Also, those bridges don't have a hundred thousand cars passing over them every day.

Officials are interested in winning an election in 2-6 years. After that, they don't care.

This is why monarchy is better than democracy for long term planning.

[–] patriot_biz 1 points 6 points (+7|-1) ago

I'm not really up on structural, but my understanding is that steel is a much more flexible material than say rock for example. Rock can't really handle vibrations. Cars vibrate, Bro.

I thought you knew?

[–] firex726 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Also wind and pedestrian walking on a long bridge has been thee cause of several collapses.

To keep people dependent on a constant supply of fiat currency from the banks to maintain their infrastructure.

Remember when we built things to last? Now it's just McMansions with paper walls that collapse within a decade.

[–] voatuser1128 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Now it's just McMansions with paper walls that collapse within a decade.

Even normal fucking houses are paper thin that takes a ton of energy to heat and cool and have no sound insulation.

[–] uvulectomy 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Dear GOD you're right about the sound insulation. If it didn't involve a whole lot of time, mess, expense, and moving literally EVERYTHING, I would tear out my drywall and put rock wool in every single wall.

[–] Wahaha 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Remember when people didn't replace their phone every other day?

[–] Plant_Boy 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Biodegradable Houses.

[–] uvulectomy 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Meanwhile, some mud and timber piece of shit built by niggers in the jungle collapses the first time something heavier than a child crosses it.

[–] firex726 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Yes, but if a brick ever cracks, you'll have to replace the entire bridge and only the bridge dealership has the parts and equipment. You'll also have to destroy that hill in the background to gain access to the bridge.

German Engineering... It's great till it breaks.

[–] mralexson 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

There’s an abandoned bridge in a river bed near my house that was build 20 years ago and The thing looks like it went thru the apocalypse . Architects back then were better at making at longer lasting structures

[–] DefinantlyNotATroll 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Lol we had an entire rail bridge dissappear!

[–] mralexson 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Hope the railway is abandoned

[–] Fibbideh 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Is it stone like this one or concrete and steel?

[–] mralexson 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Mostly Concrete and steel with some stone support
