Why? Because we always try to have at least three people review each game, rather than just one. One will do the full review, and is always required to have played the game to completion*, and two others who do what we call "Appeals". Which are shorter and frequently based on a more general impression without having necessarily fully explored all content available. We adopted this approach deliberately to engender an environment whereby our final score is much more nebulous. Games are, after all, art, and there is no truly objective way to judge (heh) them.
Essentially, our philosophy at Pixel Judge is this. When one of us writes a review, we are not speaking as the voice of Pixel Judge. Rather, Pixel Judge is offering a place where that writer's voice can be heard. So "our" reviews are not the final stamp of approval or denial. They are a collective interpretation based on the subjective experiences of several varied individuals with their own, unique tastes and expectations. So if you know I cream my pants for highly pretentious, self agrandising art "games" (which I do) and I then give Gone Home a 5/5 (which I did) you will immediately know to ignore me because I'm talking out of my self indulgent arse.
*or at least some realistic approximation thereof when we're talking about an "endless" game like Skyrim
P.S: Yes, we're PC only
