We should try to be better than we were on the other site. We should be more welcoming to people even if they are not part of the master race. If we see console players being ignorant (about PC) we should correct them and explain why that is not true instead of circle jerking about how much of a "peasant" they are. We should be the face of a friendly community that people would want to join rather than putting them off by being abrasive. We shouldn't be fighting with them either because that won't help (discussion is better that mindless arguments).
My suggestion is that we should make it easy for people to switch to PC by being welcoming and informative. To achieve this we will need to change what content we submit and upvoat to this subverese (compared to what was on the other site), and maybe get rid of, or at least tone down some of the cult-ish culture that we have. It would also probably be better if weren't about what makes PC better than consoles but instead about what makes PC gaming so great.
Edit: Ok, so my main goal with this post for us to take steps to avoid the circle jerk that was created on the other site. The tongue-in-cheek humor is ok, but we just have to make sure we don't get lost in it in the same way that people can start doing something when they originally started doing it ironically. My idea is not to throw away all the culture we had but to instead make the community for friendly to everyone (even console players). The problem is that people who are introduced to PC are often told to steer clear of us because of the way we act.

That would be boring though. It's pc master race. Snark is right there in the title. We'd just be buildapc or something if we got rid of all the making fun of peasants.

That is a good point but I still think we could at the very least improve our community. We will still probably make fun of peasants because I don't see this as a complete cahnge in what we post, I just don't want that to be the only thing we post about. Instead posts could be about cool moments we have in gaming which could only happen on PC. It could also incorporate more news into the sub (although I don't know how well that would fit).

Be careful with making fun of peasants let's not make this as bad as religion. We are all gamers we should feel no bitterness or jealousy towards them just because they enjoy playing on a child's toy, we have all enjoyed console gaming in the past, split screen was the highest point in console evolution. We should feel sorry for them that their lives and decisions are made for them by big companies and marketing. We are fighting the marketing not the humans. Remember that when choosing what to make fun of.

Meh, the other sub on reddit was just fine. They helped and supported console transition. But I do agree, we shouldn't let this turn into a huge circle jerk

Well, considering our banner already mentions peasants and pc superiority, I think we're going to have a hard time with that.
[–] Rare_Pepe [S] ago
Yea, that is actually what influenced my decision to make this post. That tagline is not helping.

I have to agree here. While a bit of a laugh every once in a while is nothing bad, the PCMR has got a horrible reputation for putting people down which we really need to get rid of. It should be a fact that PC is better, not that consoles are worse. For me, PCMR is all about giving people the power to choose a platform which offers the freedom (and let's face it, raw power) that PC gaming does. Immediately calling anyone who's ever touched a console a filthy peasant is not going to convert them to our cause.
[–] 274678? ago
The thing is, they are trying to prevent this, and most "filthy peasant" posts are people who still say that the console is better even if they have evidence that the PC is.

We shouldn't forget that all it takes to join the PCMR is agreeing that PC is superior. Not having a beast rig, not even necessarily having access to a computer, but sheer conviction.
If a person refuses to acknowledge PC's superiority after being confronted with objective fact, then they are a Peasant, and are worthy of being made fun of.
We're not even necessarily being satirical or tounge-in-cheek about the whole thing, PC is clearly superior. Making fun of Peasants or "worshipping GabeN" is tounge in cheek, but it's important to understand that the PCMR is mostly a serious thing.

This is something people in the master race often forgot because they got lost in it all which is part of the problem.

We could still acknowledge that PC is better that console but I think it would be better that we steer clear of circle jerk that was created.

Totally agree. I hate all the gaben/circlejerking stuff. Often it felt like people would hate everything console related... untill it came out on pc then cry about how awesome it was, It always felt like a double standard to me. Sure I dont have any current gen consoles, pc all the way. but does that stop me saying at E3 I saw some cool PS4 exclusives? Nope. There were some and I wish I could play them (but wont be unless they some how get a port) but all the hate is just toxic IMO.

Yeah PCMR is for those who have already ascended, not those who are trying to.

For me, building my PC is a cheaper/less time consuming alternative to working on cars. I still do that occasionally, but it's just so much easier to have a single day project with my PC. My previous job involved a lot of hardware repair on various desktops and notebook devices, and I miss working with my hands. This not only fills that for me, it lets me see the results and enjoy them immediately.

Eh, I think just toning down on the shitposting would be the only change I'd like to see.
