When buying a mechanical keyboard the switches are more important than the brand-name that uses them. I prefer Cherry Browns because they're a great middle-ground for writing and gaming, with soft pressure (not too soft) and single click.

As long as your keyboard uses Cherry switches you should be good. If the keyboard uses some new type of switch, prepare for pain. Razer keyboards sometimes use their own mechanical switch and they tend to have issues (Razer products in general have issues).

Corsair are generally pretty good. Personally, I'm using a CoolerMaster CM Storm XT and I got it cheap. There's no fancy lights or any extra shit, it's just a solid keyboard with great switches and easily changeable keys.

This does a pretty good job of listing the different switches.

Can rep coolermaster mechanical keyboards. Very nice and a few of my buddies like it more than their razers.

Don't buy razer. If you want to do anything fancy with it, like use hotkeys or macros, you'll need their software... which is spyware that will refuse to run unless you make an account, agree to be spied on and connect to the internet.

I have a corsair with cherry reds and I love it. I use it for counterstrike mostly, with some skyrim and fallout thrown in. Best keyboard I've ever had.

The Corsair keyboards work just fine. Logitech is okay, just more expensive, and Razer is overpriced IMO. There are other companies that make decent mechanical keyboards for less than all of the above manufacturers, even with black friday prices, too. Just remember to get RGB LEDs, they make the computer run faster!

I have the Corsair k70 rgb with cherry red switches and I love it. Its super loud to type on. If your trying to game while somebody is sleeping in the next room get different switches.

I have a Corsair K70 keyboard, very heavy keyboard, doesn't move when you type. But you need 2 USB ports, one for the keyboard and one for additional power of the LED's.

Corsair = Quality. Razer = Cheap Price/Decent Qaulity (run risk of RTM).

I have both companies products in my home currently. I have way more corsair than Razer. Razer makes a decent headset for the price.

Black friday / Cyber Monday used to be a great time to buy stuff. Now, however, they have made shitty versions of existing products to sell just on those 2 days. Avoid buying stuff specifically marked for black friday.

Keyboard - I recommend Corsair RBG Strife MX Silent. It has a great feel, isn't as loud, and keys are better as far as response is for how I type. I would suggest going to a Fry's or Best Buy to test out the keyboards before you buy one.

Corsair over Razer. I have had some Razer and they are nice but overpriced. In the long run you probably won't care much about the fancy lights as it gets old pretty quick. In that case I would suggest just buying a mechanical with good switches and maybe plain backlighting. I haev good luck with Redragon products. They use off brand copies of Cherry MX switches but they are cheaper and better made than the Razer I have used. Nice thing is they use standard keyboard drivers for most of them (ones with macros and such have to have special ones) so no spyware.

I used the Redragon K552 KUMARA with the red lighting for quite a while as my main and then on my dev machine. Never had an issue with it. And you can find it on Amazon for around $30 most all the time.

I have the corsair strafe and corsair harpoon. Was $120~ at Worst Buy and both worth every penny. I sold my Black Widow and ended up getting the strafe for the sound reduction. They look great together as well.

The Red Dragon looks good for the money.

Redragon is one of those that is not worth it at $100 but at $30-50 it is so much better than any other one around that price it isn't funny. You have to be ready for a $30 keyboard to be that heavy though as I have a mark in my Ikea desk from dropping it on a corner. Easily heavier than my Blackwidow 10-keyless. Only complaint I would have is that they say they are like MX Greens but they are really more like MX Blues. If you are cool with Blues they are a really good copy.
