$15hr is not that much after taxes, and it will soon be much less due to inflation, so there will be a new fight for $30 minimum wage

And until minimum wage is tied to the highest wage ( plus bonuses ) paid out within a company, it will continue to not matter.

Even then, you still need to deal with a shit housing market in most places, healthcare / insurance companies fighting over which side can manage to squeeze more money out of us, and ( as you touched on ) ever increasing bloat within federal and state government spending. All of which have hit California hard.

Honestly, I'm surprised that they even managed to survive the last drought.
