As much as I'm okay with LGBT (for the most part), I am never okay with companies getting involved in politics like this.

It's also almost always inconsistent. Like they do this:

“We blacked out the access to our website because we want to draw the attention of millions of people to patterns of human rights violations,” Hawkins said.

But I don't see them protesting countries with much more serious human rights violations like that. Including countries where homosexuality is illegal, for example. The only such protest they ever pull is over this, gee how progressive.

You know, the Boss cancels a concert in NC over gay rights, but he played Mexico a few years back, am I to take that as a tacit approval of the Mexican government's policies? Which include untold human rights violations?

So he starts being inconsistent. And gays getting married is a bigger issue, apparently, than political corruption, war, repression, the death of democracy, genocides, FGM, terrorism, financial crime; am I to respect that position? That's the one thing you take issue with? Mmm.

Isn't it somewhat more relevant that they're speaking out on something in our own country rather than interfering in another nations politics?

Meh, I'm OK with this double standard because we should try to adhere to a higher standard than some 3rd world shithole. Most other nations that make homosexuality a crime tend to have inherrently bigger problems to deal with than the gays.

LOL, in Mexico "Born in the USA" translates roughly to "Hecho in the USA." Caitlyn Springsteen supports a pedophile! ;-P

I mean, are inconsistent views against the law? Are we not all guilty of this to some degree or another? Even major well-respected charities will help children in one part of the world while ignoring children in their own country, I don't think people cherry-picking their concerns is a major issue, even if it's a company; I think most people know when a company makes a political stance it's really just their executives ideological cherry-picked concerns.

I care about classical sociological theory, but I cherry-pick which authors I look at; with good reason, if I devoted time to every author, I would never get any depth. The same is true for a lot of causes, if they made a political statement at the cost of the companies profits for every scenario where it may be perceived merited, they would be bankrupt and out of business. They are cherry-picking their point of objection, but that doesn't really mean that their views are inconsistent.

If they're an actual stakeholder that will be affected by legislation, I don't mind it.

Yeah, if it was an anti-porn law I could understand.

" I support companies subverting democracy and trying to override the will of the people as long as it supports their own interests."

That's what you're saying. People like you never want to stand up for nothing , so you make excuses to justify accepting shitty behavior so you don't feel like a pussy for not opposing it.

Yes, how dare a company deny service to customers like that! Companies should only be allowed to deny service based on whether a customer is gay, not what a customer's political view is!

My company only endorses people of a certain medical profession that we support. So they endorse everyone from the norm to a zany whackjob because they are all of said profession. It's cute.

It's almost like they're only doing it for the free advertising.

"It was like that time I hired a Bangkok prostitute to do my taxes while I fucked my accountant."

That's the best line that anybody has ever said. I'd pencil in McAfee for 2016.

A porn company landing on the side of the morally and mentally insane, who'd of thunk it? Well, you principled porn users will just have to find a different source of porn. Gee, if only the Internet had more porn to chose from.

Yeah, all this free advertising on various media sites is really going to hurt the company.

I'll still use xhamster, but they need to know their place. You're just a porn streaming company, get the fuck over yourself.

How is this law even contraversial? It makes sense to me. But on the other hand, the left doesn't know what that even means

Because many people and publications are spinning it into a law AGAINST gay people, instead of as a law to protect small business owners and their right to refuse service.

I assume it's the same people that think without the governments involvement, there would be no roads.

Not to mention protecting the safety of women who don't want dicks in the women's room!!!

Stop portraying it as an anti-LGBT law. It's an anti-dick in the ladies room law.

There's plenty of heterosexual creeps who'd love to hang out in the little girls potty. It's not always about you, LGBT people.
