Gawker still will appeal. Some self-proclaimed media experts already stated that they'll win the appeal, but I remain skeptical on either option.

In Florida before you can appeal Gawker will have to put $50 mil in an escrow account. I doubt they have that type of cash on hand.

Not exactly. They have to put up a bond for the amount of the verdict but it's capped at $50M.

Bonds usually cost 10% or so of the amount so they will only have to come up with $5M.

They may have already settled on a high/low behind closed doors, there is no way Gawker's lawyers were that confidant in there case not to pre-settle.

They need to post the amount of the award as a precondition to the appeal… So unless they have $115 million to put up in trust, they are not going to be allowed to appeal the decision.
