Do people understand what free speech is?

Free speech is being able to say what you want without fear of being arrested by the government.

Free speech is not having the platform to say whatever you want whenever you want without intervention by the public.

Example:

The WBC is free to protest a funeral, just the same way that other people are free to drown them out by yelling over top of them.

In your example, the WBC assholes are smart enough to stay on public property and protest legally. They do not sneak into the ceremony and start screaming and waving signs during the eulogy, nor do they physically attack people and flip them off on the way out. That is trespassing, disturbing the peace, and assault.

These idiots are going to learn the hard way when Trump starts pressing charges, the paid protest organizers don't care about them and are setting them up for a PR stunt.

Why should Brandon Eich have gotten fired from Mozilla for giving money to an anti-gay marriage campaign?

Because a company has decided that they don't want to alienate some of their customer base (the gays), and when an employee's donation publicly reflects negatively on the company's image, they should have the right to take action. The problem is that for Brandon, the donation was not limited to his private life. When people associated it with Mozilla rather than Brandon, it stopped being private.

Mozilla and Brandon still have free speech since no one was arrested. It just Mozilla is profit motivated, and it is not good business to piss off potential customers.
