Number one rule of politics, don't believe anything until you see action.

I will take it a step further and say don't believe anything until the action is 100% completed.

Absolutely. I also see the comments discussed in the article as rather disappointing compared to some of the premature hype that built up when it was first announced that Obama was going to be speaking regarding marijuana tonight.

Anything short of his making a strong endorsement of, and as much action as he can himself towards, a reclassification of the drug to a level comparable to alcohol is an embarrassment as far as I am concerned.

Fuck medical Marijuana. Full legalization or bust. If Colorado can do it, the rest of the nation can.

Obama smoked weed himself, and he is an asshole for making giggly jokes about this for 7 years while people were being actively sent to prison for what he himself did.

What the hell Obama. Where were these statements/actions several years ago? It's his last year in office so even if he DID get something passed into law or even close to passing, who is to say the next president won't just scrap the plan and sweep it away? I wonder if he really cares about this issue for the good of the public or is just trying to get more money in his pockets. Please prove me wrong. Maybe he and his advisers have finally seen past the lies and propaganda of the DEA. I'll believe it when I see it.

He's a lame duck. He's going to use this for popular support to help the Democrats win the next election but he'll never see a bill that legalizes marijuana in any way. In fact it might be smart for the republicans to rush a poisoned legalization bill through at this point. If he veto's it they get to call him a waffler and if he signs it they can point to the bad provision AND call the democrats soft on crime.

Does anyone think Bill Christie will get traction for his anti-position?
