You should look into that link that you sent me and you'll see that it's not even close to the same thing. But thanks for proving that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, and that you'll grasp for straws if you think it will prove your point (even if it actually disproves it since that link is not doing the same operations as the example I included). Rounding doesn't just chop off whatever significant digits after a certain point, it's rounding down or up to the nearest. This isn't a typo, it's straight up wrong.
You obviously care enough to start an argument with strangers on the internet... so yes. Yes you do care and that's why you keep replying to me. Take another look at how they get their estimations in that link you provided, and then you'll understand what I'm talking about.
No, I'm not making that whole argument because of that image. I'm using that image as an example of what common core teaches. It's not my problem that you have personal objections with the image, it's also not my responsibility to give you an example of what common core is if you're the one defending it. So far many others have posted examples of why they think common core is bullshit, but I haven't seen a single example from you. So I'm done trying to "convince" you of anything because there's nothing I could say to you - you will still believe whatever you want to believe. And I'm not sure why you're defending common core anyway, but seeing as how you love to be smug and insult people, it wouldn't surprise me if you just found an available jab from that first user who stated his math background and are now just continuing down that road.

It is the same thing except there is a typo in the image you CLAIM is from a common core text book. The typo being that they should have rounded a different way obviously...
I care that idiots are trying to link brainwashing with mathematics, and other idiots are pulling random images(again images that those idiots can't even link to a text book) off the internet, of random mistakes to push those arguments. I still don't care about what you personally think should be or not be in curriculum though.
If that is what common core teaches then it should be easy for you to provide more evidence of this right? Then you say things like this
and yet you still don't provide anything new to prove you point that the image is an example of what common core teaches.
I may have been smug before, but now I'm just going to treat you like an idiot. Do you really think it's my responsibility to go out and find evidence for your claim? Or that the image you provided would even get me motivated enough to bother looking it up for you? Edit: lol what the hell I looked it up and it's fake, but I won't link to my evidence because "it's not my responsibility to provide evidence to prove my points". I wonder where I've heard something like that before.
I don't believe I've insulted until this post. How did insult you? I said your your entire argument is worthless(which it was), but I never said you were. I'm pretty sure you started with the insults when you called me smug... But I do think you're an idiot now though.

Let me spell it out for you.
Everybody is challenging common core legitimacy, several people educated in mathematics have come out saying the same thing.
You are the only person to defend it, only providing the fact that you help your nephews with math homework. This does not tell us anything about common core math, and we don't even know (you haven't confirmed either way even after I brought it up) if what you're looking at is common core. Do you even know what common core is?
I post a well-known image that has been used in many articles criticizing common core, which you don't reject.
You continue to provide zero extra details or information related to why you think common core is okay, but talk shit about that image even though before that, you still failed to provide a single piece of information.
You claim that they made a typo (What was the typo? They are just doing estimation incorrectly. There's a difference between a work error and a typo), but no, that's actually how they teach kids front end estimation, even though they aren't rounding to the nearest hundredth... which they are supposed to do.
But somehow I'm the idiot. Okay, have fun with that.
