This is essentially an armed, but peaceful protest. I think it's a good thing. We have a huge problem with the federal government. Their land grab is despicable. I'm glad this is happening.

Not to be an ass, but that really really seems like you are living in the past, this fight will not be fought like previous battles/wars. Again nothing against you.

You know why this is being allowed to continue? Because it is an incredibly powerful tool for information manipulation.

If any big, inconvenient story comes by, they can just pull the pin on this, and it will drown out everything else on the news. Additionally, it fits perfectly into the narrative that "far right wing extremists" are the biggest threat to the country, and that what's needed is more curtailing of people's rights.

I posted a simple reply on reddit about this story "just Americans exercising their right to assemble and their right to bear arms" The number of downvotes went through the basement. The replies to this story frighten me.They, overwhelmingly, support the federal government on this issue.

This is the elephant in the room. There is overwhelming support against these guys by the people that refuse to read the article before posting their feelings. I've been trying to find PoV articles about this and most articles are bias and dismissive. The best explaination i can find was from Stephan Molyneux while he broke down the story of the Oregon people. This doesn't necessarily mean the source is accurate nor if the Oregon people are right. It is just the most complete compile I can see available. Like the Bundys in Nevada against BLM, it seems like BLM has been landgrabbing to sell off to corporate interests. This isn't surprising because this is what gov't does or has been doing i.e. FDA/DEA/etc.

Le Reddit just seems to be filled with the facebook crowd who are illiterate and base their information on emotions rather than actual thought and informed comprehension expression.

I know. Most redditors care nothing about the facts, just the emotions from a poorly written headline. Sad

Yeah it is scary what some liberals think. A skeptical philosopher I follow on Twitter called them terrorists. I urged him to please re examine everything about it. He first said he re examined (very quickly which seemed dishonest), then said "imagine if this were black people". Really? This protest about the feds seizing land, the abuse of law and all this dipshit can do is gish gallop and compare it to black lives matter?

Meanwhile I see shitrockets on facebook saying how the 2nd ammendment is outdated. No you idiots you can't just take away something from the constitution, and if you do, you set a terrible precedent to striking away other laws, like freedom of speech and women's right to vote.

Pay attention to the word and fact choice in articles like this.

They describe the group as "armed men" and "militants." The protestors are identified by their "military attire" and "bulletproof vests." They talk about shutting down schools for "safety concerns," using "negotiators," and finding a "peaceful solution." At no point are the protestors looking to end this violently, or do anything other unarmed protestors haven't done in the past, but they treat this like they're terrorists and people on both sides are eating it right up.

Look at all the supposed peace-loving liberals acting like jingoistic warhawks who want to hit the community center with a drone strike, and the conservatives who simultaneously insist that it's a peaceful occupation and hope it's the catalyst for violent revolution. The media is artifically escalating this false conflict to touch the monkey-braining-another-monkey-with-a-femur part of our brains.

The media narrative is frequently obvious with their bias, but all this does is let your guard down when they work subtly. Big lie covering the small lie.

The Revolutionary part of me is excited....the rational part of me knows this can never work...they are being too civil about The Revolution

I'm wondering how many of these armed men are actually X-military?

I doubt that they are just a bunch of weekend hunters.

A chilling thought is that more and more enclaves start to form to protest the government...
