What is your opinion on software? Personally, I wish all major companies had free "student" editions. No way in hell would I pay $500-$5,000 for a full software package of something I'm only learning to use. Either I'll download a cracked version, or I'll switch to a different package that is free and open source.

I tend to use open source alternatives. I have in the past used pirated versions but not so much really anymore. I haven't found it necessary. I do like to support smaller devs. I have pirated games but usually end up buying the game when I realize I enjoy the product and feel the need to make a contribution. I know its not necessary but I just tend to feel obligated to support something I really love. Example: Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. I played the pirated version for awhile. Which resulted in me making a purchase. But yeah. I'm not about to lay down a few hundred bucks on a piece of software.
Edit: I have 181 games in my steam library. And I gift games to friends randomly when the price is right.
