Do you trust the government to set the correct prices for drugs and services?
A few ideas:
Limit medical liability for hospitals and doctors.
Eliminate drug advertisements.
Limit the time frame drug patents.
Uninsured can not be forced to pay more than 120% of average insurance agreed price.
Make each hospital publicly post prices for the (uninsured prices) same procedure at other nearby hospitals.
edit: spacing My proposal won't pass because "there is too much money in it (them)"
Current government will NEVER transfer any wealth to the public. They only take wealth from the public. No incentive to do it.

Er, it's not like a universal single payer system outlaws private insurance and care.
If you don't like the government's health care, buy your own. Very simple. Meanwhile, health care costs drop massively, and Ebola doesn't get a head start because people go to work sick for a week before they finally go to an ER. You can do all your ideas too.

But on what grounds? Ads are free expression.

Wasn't there a ban on cigarette ads on TV?

Specifically, prescription drug advertisements
Doctors should be deciding what to prescribe and not the patients.
Thus, view prescription drug advertisements as a waste of money.
