Major title derp here and OP might be a bundle of sticks.

First their not going to draw blood from each and every person they stop. They will be stopping people and if you are drunk, they will get a warrant and take your blood. Normally, as a drunk you can say "fuck off" and they don't take your blood, you just automatically lose your license.

What they are doing is not letting anyone slide by if they're drunk, it doesn't matter who you think you are, if you hit one of those road blocks, you are busted. This idiot title sounds like they are pulling everyone over and taking everyone's blood. That would get them so sued it's not even funny, not to mention it would be retarded. The logistics of it would be a nightmare as this has to be done by medical staff or else again, they'd have the pants sued off them.

Click bait title is click bait.

"Officers will be allowed to seek search warrants, and any suspected impaired driver could be subject to blood sampling."

Did you miss that part?

How about this part?

"The Tennessee Highway Patrol will enforce a "no refusal" traffic safety policy from New Year's Eve to Monday, January 4, 2016, in a effort the agency says will reduce the number of fatal crashes over the holiday."

This is the normal law concerning this, they aren't off the reservation with it drawing blood willynilly. This is just click bait retard word play designed to make something out of nothing.

How will suspicion be established? It's drunks! They don't need Sherlock Holmes to determine that. Let me explain, it's winter and people have their windows up. Their breath if they have been drinking will have the entire car smelling like booze to anyone who is sober and not acclimated to the smell. Hence when they roll down the window for the officer and he moves his nose in for a sniff, he'll know. Then it's blow into the breath tester time, which can be argued with in court, so they will need a blood test for a solid bust. That's when they haul your goofy ass off to the hospital, then off to jail.

Again, you can just normally "go fuck off" and it's your license. By getting the warrant for the blood test, this means you will be busted for DUI, which means if you are a retard that has a history of drunk driving, you are now a habitual offender and you can end up in prison. The refusal is a chance to just lose your license, but they are saying "fuck you" we're not going to let that slide, it's New Years and dumb fucks who drink and drive are killing themselves and innocent people in disturbing numbers during this holiday.

So if you're an asshole who drinks and drives, this is going suck if you go through one of these check points.

Click bait sites and faggot OPs want you to think this is some Draconian policy in play by toying with the wording. Sigh!

I don't care if they're taking one person's blood or everyone's blood. They shouldn't have the right to do it. Why isn't a breathalyser good enough? Why do they feel the need to stick a needle in someone just to see if they're drunk? The "drunk" excuse reeks of bs and I don't see how this is legal without a warrant.

When you get a license in TN there is something on the form that gives implied consent for blood testing. So if you want to drive you give them the right. One of the reasons I left TN.

Seriously?

They aren't taking everyone's blood. They are doing it with a warrant. The drunk excuse reeks of BS? WTF, it's New Years Eve and it's the holiday they are out in force every year at this time because of all the idiot drunks. There's no mystery about this unless you've got a 20lb tinfoil hat on.

"If they are drunk"...how the hell are the officers going to " know" someone is drunk /prior to a blood test/? This is some authoritarian "I totally swear I smell marijuana" logic to abbrogating the 4th Amendment.

What are you, 12 or half retarded? I'm thinking 12 from some puritanical home because if you ever been around drunks, you'd know how easy it is to spot them. Officers are trained to spot drunks. State Troopers are fucking experts at it and they scrape people off the highway from drunk driver wrecks all the time. When I was young I worked as a bartender and I could spot drunks in spite of the stench of booze that comes with the job. You have to as a bartender because if they are too drunk, you can 'over serve' them and get sued if they do something stupid, like drunk drive and kill someone.

Often they will get kicked out of another bar and they come to yours looking for a drink. If they are too drunk, you don't serve them because it takes only ONE drink from your bar to be liable. So bartenders have to be able to spot this and they aren't as trained as cops. These aren't just cops, these are State Police, high trained and they live on the road, this is what they do. They keep idiot drunks off the road for everyone's safety, even dipshits like this thread is full of.

Also, you of great 12 year old failed reading comprehension, they have to have a WARRANT to take the blood. This is a process that is Constitutional in spite of your foam at the mouth circle jerk of cop haters think. This article is pure retard click bait, OP is a weapons grade retarded faggot and he's not alone. So, fuck you and all the little edgy bitches who complain about cops protecting innocent people from drunk drivers.

Don't you fuckers every dare bitch when one runs over one of your family or friends. In fact, it's so cunty of you all that I'm thinking karma and a drunk driver is going to educate a few of you. Statistically it's very possible. Of all the shit that there is to bitch about in the system, you pick this? lol. This is why we're fucked. Seriously.

This is disgusting!

Forcibly taking people's blood is a human rights violation!

Jesus, some people have sever phobias to giving blood... especially those who were unfortunate enough to be captured and tortured and survived during the Pinochet's rule in Chile.

Anything to get DUI drivers off the roads, and possibly off this world. DUI should be treated as attempted murder at least.

Can you explain the part about Pinochet? I'm aware he was a ruthless dictator, but idk how that relates to forcibly drawing blood.

[–] guinness2 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago  (edited ago)

Pinochet's torture of his people is legendary. There are thousands of people still alive today who's bottom jaw closes above their top jaw and who's bodies are riddled with holes and scars after being captured and tortured with needles and electricity and pliers for opposing Pinochet's human rights atrocities.

really? tennessee has a HUGE history of cops overstepping their bounds. that shit would NEVER fly up here in the liberal north east. the VAST MAJORITY of police nonsense happens in southern states. go look at a map of all the police involved shootings the last few years.

Haha, riiiiight which is why the liberal states are constantly passing laws to send police smashing down people's doors for no reason. See California's new law allowing anyone to call the police and say you own guns and are "bad", then the thugs in blue get to shoot up an innocent family.
