If it makes you feel better, $0.90 in 1995 is the equivalent of $1.39 today, and $2.50 today would be worth $1.62 in 1995.
Thanks inflation!

If gas would have jumped to $1.62 in 1995 there would have been riots in the streets.

About two months ago gas around here dropped down to $1.61 a gallon. I almost pulled my car over and took a picture. Then printed it out with the date in the corner to hang on my wall. Just because I know I'll never see gas that cheap for the rest of my life. Also, if I showed that picture with that date to someone they'd go, "WTF?!"
