Let them cut their own throats. They were bound for it anyway after seeing everything unfold as it did. When you let fascism in, it only destroys.

It sounds like you're being melodramatic but you're right.

totalitarian left takes over control of reddit

STUPID FASCIST GUISE ITS SO EVIL DANG THOSE FASCIST IT WAS ALL DEYM! NEVER AGAIN!

Are you retarded? You are looking for the word communism not fascism. Hell even the poster on the right side of the site shows a 1984 reference to thought police which were in the book.... gasp... commies.

These are the dangers of communism and it will continue to get worse till people like you remove their personal bias and think with facts, logic, critical thinking, and not bigotry.

I'm not privy to the changes that have happened after the new CEO. How does she scream "abuse of power to protect a fragile ego?"

This will probably create an influx of new users like myself to voat.

To be fair, not a lot of people subscribe to /r/conspiracy. I moved over to voat after the modtalk leaks got banned from KiA. I mean, I had been lurking here since it was whoaverse, but now voat is always one of my open tabs.

It is currently number 77 on /r/all so that could drive a lot of users that browse r/all when they see a post with that type of title. Not sure how many browse all by top of the day

I'm sure it will. I'm not big on conspiracy theories or drama, I just follow good content. I switched from Slashdot to Digg not because of drama but because the content simply was better. Same with the move from Digg to Reddit. I made the switch at around the same time everyone was leaving Digg in droves, but for me it was because there simply wasn't anything good left to be found on Digg.

For me Reddit lost its shine when it became the second hang-out for all the 4chan posers trying to be macho "alphas". For the last two years or so the "OP is a faggot" rhetoric has been out of control, ad-hominem attacks are not just commonplace but encouraged, and any and all opposing views are aggressively downvoted. Add on to that the fact that the front page is nothing but populist pap and I'm ready for a change.

Only been here a day so I don't know how things will go, but smaller communities are almost always friendlier and more dynamic. Like reddit. Once.

Your damn right -- I was a reddit user for more than 8 years, but I got so tired of it, and voat.co is the next iteration, a lot better thus far, but that's mostly because it has very few users. I think we have to do a better job in many areas, and certainly site moderation -- where everything is allowed, not just what the moderators pick, is a useful and important thing. Let's get started!

And they are working hard to ensure that Voat does NOT end up like _eddit. We are trying to disprove you either die the hero, or you know how it goes. ;) Let's all work to keeping Voat open and Free (of fascist control dumb-ass's)!

First off, welcome to Voat! :-)

I'll try to answer your questions from a different perspective. Removing support for mobile viewing would be a pretty big mistake in terms of site usability. 95% of my voating is done on my desktop at home, but 5% is done on my phone at work. I wouldn't consider myself a 'mobile user' and I still benefit from a mobile version. Imagine those who use mobile as their primary.

I made it a priority to design this site in a mobile-friendly way because more and more people are browsing on their phones. In order for Voat to ever be successful, we need to attract as many people as we can, which means that removing mobile support could be a deadly blow to Voat's future.

We don't even know if the majority of mobile users are part of the poison.

my question is if it would be possible to make this site only desktop based and cut off any mobile users.

I doubt they would go that far, but I totally understand where you're coming from.

When reading from an iPhone-sized screen, comprehension scores for complex Web content were 48% of desktop monitor scores

Reddit is horseshit. It has major cenorship issues. They don't just ban and dele. They ban whatever they disagree with. Doesn't matter if you're respectful. Anyway, those reddit mods are bunch of losers. They have no power in reality, so they have to get it through a website that isn't even theirs to begin with.

This was what brought me here. I hadn't heard of voat.co until today. I have being using reddit for a few years now, with a reasonably hefty amount of internet points at my disposable. I have to say; so far I like what I see. It's a shame that reddit has become what it has; but sadly, things do tend to have a habit of going downhill once they reach critical mass.

It wasn't so long ago that reddit was a place of discussion and interesting content. Whilst that can still be found if you look hard enough; you really do have to dig for it. You certainly won't find much of worth on the front page, or in the default subs.

I look forward to the possibility of reliving those early days with you all here.

Shadow banning OP, causes even more attention to the post. Censorship screws itself again.
