It's the perfect enemy. They are small, scattered, not a real threat ( like china or Russia would be) and don't even have a real leadership structure or a home base to bomb. The idea was never to defeat them, it was to always have an enemy. This drives war spending, it pushes political agendas, it distracts from the real problems we are facing.

Lets all keep in mind that Syria has a sitting government that asked Russia to help them remove the rebels from Syria altogether. That is the end game.

US has no "end game" because they want the rebels to take out Assad first, and every single action america does be it a bombing run or anything else is against both domestic law (congress did not pass this measure) and international law (the UN has not sanctioned it, and Syrias government did not give the US permission to enter its airspace or violate its territory in any way for any reason)

That's the part that really bothers me. US clearly wants Assad out, but what's going to replace him? There's no clear objective for a new regime, and from what we learned in Iraq, you can't just prop up a democracy out of toppling a dictator.

Same goes for Libya. Sure Gaddafi was a harsh tyrant, but it's clear he kept the peace, and the oil production was constant. Now, with him gone, it's warring tribes at eachothers throats, with almost no oil coming out.

OK, so you drop a ton of bombs. What's next? No one in power or running for the US presidency has any idea.

The issue is there are 1.7 billion Muslims in the world all waiting for any excuse to radicalize and chimp-out and start acting on their terrorist, rapist, pedophile beliefs.

I'm not saying nukes aren't part of the answer, I'm only saying there are no shortage of Muslims and every country is infested by their filth.

This is the plan:

1) Let ISIS and the other terrorist groups destroy Assad

2) Cut funding to ISIS

3) Send in troops to help the Free Syrian Army the remains of ISIS

4) Put a US General in to run a caretaker government.

5) Sign contracts so all economic assets oil or otherwise go to US interests

6) Create a constitution preventing the nationalization of anything or changing the constitution without US approval

7) Hand power to a random Syrian so they can tell the rest of the world they have left

How do you defeat an idea, short of genociding those who think it?

and even then? An idea is immortal.

How do we change their minds?

B.S. the end game is to let ISIS force out Assad and then Washington and allies to destabilize Iran, with the last move being Western hegemony in the region.

Because there are 1.7 billion Muslims who are ALL potential recruits who are waiting to be radicalized.

As the current Muslim immigration crisis educates the civilized world about how bestial and disgusting Islam, civilized people will stop pretending to respect the violent, rapist, terrorist, pedophile ideology of Islam and the human rights atrocities it promotes... which will cause oceans of Muslims, who are proud of how disgusting they are, to radicalize.
