The middle east should start expanding into scientology.

banning religions..... scientology is ridiculous, but why would any lover of freedom cheer this action?

its like when vk.com was clearly on a train to the top, russia stepped in and seized complete control of it giving europes facebook with 100 million users to putin. imagine if obama sent an FBI swat team to mark zukerbergs house. how can people cheer these actions?

It is not a religion. It is simply a scam, a pyramid scheme.

And don't even start me about Zuckerberg and CIA.

The article doesn't say anything about prohibiting or censoring speech about Scientology. They merely destroyed the legal entity behind this nefarious organization. And rightly so. Every country should follow.

It would probably be a step up from zuckerberg having it.

VK is still much much better than facebook at everything except number of users. Dwarfs anything for music and extremely convenient for movies right there if you can bear with the resolution.

They pretty much already have control of Facebook: what they require from Facebook is technically illegal but they squash you with court costs and illegal penalties.

Sounds like an invitation for another religious war.

Being a bit oldish, there is something mildly disturbing about the fact that Putin actually looks good right now, out of the leaders around the world this ex-KGB, probable killer, and fairly repeated violator of human rights is actually sitting in a good light around the world because our governments are just 'that' shitty...... fuck...

if only other countries would do likewise.

Just make sure they have to pay taxes, that will get them out of your country real quick.

Religion? More like a cult that blackmailed its way into legitimacy.

I can't imagine how much it'll offend your prog sensibilities to find out they're not keen on pedophilia either.

Pros:

  1. Ron is/was (snark on the present tense) an awesome speaker!

  2. A lot of the "teaching material" not the speech material is pretty decent and easy to read and understand.

Cons:

  1. Ron blasts/blasted psychologist left and right. However the material that is really good to read is based on other materials and some parts of the study material is very very similar to NLP.

  2. Members are coerced into buying crap loads of "materials" and box sets. Compared to Jehovah's who spend their community time printing up their watch tower. I still prefer Ron's stuff though.

  3. That clearing machine: from what I've read it really sounds like a lie detector. If said machine is a lie detector and clearing is used to bring up past "issues" what can be un-covered????

  4. I really don't see Scientology as a religion. Hence id like to see tax-status removed.

  5. The church goes to glee at length to track down errant members.

Note: I have read some materials and knew a person who spoke no ill of the Scientology church ... He moved one day and the person who took over his phone line would get constant phone calls. Also, that same friend had oodles and oodles of materials that he hated paying for. So, I made my own assumptions.

If people like that system then all the more power to them. As my friend said, try clearing but don't go further ...

I checked. Scientology cult centers have been closed several times in various Russian cities, but as far as I can tell there is no overarching national ban. This is also a local decision applicable to Moscow. The closures have been carried out by the courts rather than legislation.

Putin clearly needs some quality time with the magic truth rods in order to better understand how Xenu has destroyed his soul and mind space.
