“If the heirs can only find shreds of money and if the origin of the money is assured, then of course it can all be replaced,”
I saw something on the news where the bank requires something like 70% of the bill to be remaining (even if in shreds) or something where they needed to at least show all the serial numbers. This makes me think that 'in theory' all those shreds could be reassembled but holy shit what a task and..
...what if they find out she was clever enough to sabotage that so that no single bill is actually complete. Another ball of shreds was discarded elsewhere?
But seriously this really does piss me off because assuming she was successful? AT LEAST GIVE IT TO A CHARITY for fuckssakes.. i mean if you hate your family then fine dont give it to them but imagine the good that could do for 1000s of good people. hell..give it to some poor senior citizens without kids at least!
Destroying money has an anti-inflationary effect, so it makes everyone else's cash more valuable. So it is charity of a sort, but the effect is spread across so many people as to be imperceptible.
Only thing is I believe (so i heard?) but they do actually print more replacement money. Somehow estimating what gets destroyed then somehow putting that back in. I assume through government channels.
But i get what you're saying. I'd just like to see that kind of money go to some worthwhile charity. hell, she could just toss it out a window and at least some poor bastards might get a thrill and enough for a night out.
*I briefly worked at a casino and was surprised to learn that this kinda thing really seriously happens quite regularly and sometimes they came in on wheelchairs and venitlators and with x-months to live and blatantly told us in no joking ways they were purposely wasting all the remaining money so their kids or grandkids didnt get it!

NASA could really use that cash!

( Said cash will be replaced, free of charge, so it didn't work. Well, as long as it's all there at least. )
