A disease is a particular abnormal condition, a disorder of a structure or function, that affects part or all of an organism.

Thankfully your opinion isn't fact

You appear to be an idiot. I hope you can prove me wrong.

A disease is an abnormal condition that negatively effects fitness. A disease is not just any abnormality like your definition implies. If someone happened to generate rhodopsins that allowed them to be able to see in the dark that would be an abnormality, but it wouldnt be a disease. Your definition defines any evolutionary novelty as disease and is fucking stupid. A disease has to be negative. XXY , cystic fibrosis, fragile x, trisomy, all unstable repeat expansions, etc are genetic abnormalities that preclude normal reproduction and reduce fitness. They are terrible and sad, and all diseases. One of those listed is actually partly why I became a molecular biologist....

I study diseases for a living and I have used this definition in talks since grad school. So far you are the only person to find fault in it. So I would be very interested to hear a real reason my definition is incorrect, and yours, which defines any abnormality as a disease(which seams ridiculous), is superior. Please, enlighten me. I see no flaws with mine but I will change my slides as soon as you show Im wrong. But you probably cant.
