This is such bullshit. I'm sick of stories of teachers getting their lives ruined when the student clearly had the time of his/her life.

Male or female, the law gets pretty tough to swallow in black and white terms when the sexually mature young person in general was actively taking steps to make the thing happen.

I'm reminded of when I was in high school myself, they were girls who were absolutely underage, who absolutely went out and tried to find older men to have sex with. They'd really go out of their way, to. They would lie every step of the way, and then at the end of it the poor schmuck on the other end is in trouble for something that they didn't even know they were doing, perhaps something they morally didn't want to do.

Obviously in this case everybody knew exactly what was going on, but it seems like the same principle applies: the lack of consent is a legal construct, not based on an actual harm.

The arbitrary nature of this legal construct becomes clear when you realize this wouldn't be news, and the police wouldn't be involved at all in many US jurisdictions.they spun the wheel and landed on the wrong state.

Jailbait is called jailbait for a reason. Don't take the bait, wait it out.
