One thing is clear, under the state law as drafted, salon employees could not be held civilly or criminally liable "for acting in good faith or failing to act on information obtained during the course of employment concerning potential domestic violence or sexual assault."

On the one hand, no penalty for ignoring this, other than yet another hurdle to jump over to become a stylist. But if you live in Chicago, I have to assume you're used to government pointlessness.

On the other hand, "I didn't get a good tip, so I'm reporting an abuser" just became legal.
