like google, facebook, or microsoft give a flying fuck about user privacy.
if making a profit involves selling your privacy. it was already sold.

Better yet, telling me that none of those compagnies could lobby hardcore against it just proves that they approve of it.
Isn't there proof for microsoft and facebook giving private informations to states already?

actually, they do not want this because it would then turn their product (your data) even more public, thus, they can no longer sell it. It's like trying to auction off ice to eskimos
drug dealers don't want to legalize drugs.. same reason

Huh, here I thought it was Google, Facebook, and Microsoft that undermined users' privacy.
Must not want more competition.

The big three privacy invaders pretending to care about privacy. Irony meter went nuclear.

That's how they sell it

Honestly, heads need to start rolling. Nothing is going to change until someone loses their noggin.

They would know I mean it's not like they haven't done it themselves.
They really don't like competition

They have a valid complaint, but it's not about privacy. In reality this bill would further cripple those same companies' already shaky foreign footprint, which costs them a little money now, and hundreds of billions over the long run. Virtually everything Congress is doing anymore related to the tech field is coming directly at the expense of foreign adoption.
I expect Google, FB, MS, and the lot of them to relocate to a more tech-friendly country in our lifetime. They're crunching the numbers right this second to decide whether they save more money staying here, paying nothing, and fighting this or planting their HQ in Bermuda tomorrow morning and never worrying about tech-retarded politicians again.

They said through ear to ear grins and wide eyes filled with dollar signs.

"User Privacy" huh, that's a weird way to spell Profits.
