Two questions come to mind:
1) Why don't the media call human trafficking (the buying and selling of human beings) what it is: Slavery.
2) Why don't the media show pictures of these modern-day slaveowners?

probably for the same reason they call people "employees" instead of wage slave.

"Human trafficking" implies more than just slavery, like buying and selling babies to adoptive parents and sex slavery, which isn't necessarily included in simple "slavery". "Slavery" usually just means owning a person for manual labor purposes, like in agriculture or domestic service.
