So sad that nutters pick schools to shoot up instead of corrupt boardrooms.

They could potentially get sympathy instead of hate, and boy would they get the Herostratic fame they sometimes seek. Not as easy to get into one of those though. Specially if you are a retard unstable individual like the one that would do such a thing.

Just go in as a the 'network guy' that's here to fix things. You wouldn't believe the places I've gotten into with that line. Its plausible, every office in existence blames the network for something. You just have to chat them up and figure out what their particular thing is, then its yea I'm here to look at that..

I've gotten myself into offices of heads of state using social engineering. No one wants to be the person that sent the guy away thst the boss is expecting to fix something.

https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/herostratic for anyone else who has never seen that word before.

From Ancient Greek Ἡρόστρατος‎(Hēróstratos), after the arsonist Herostratus, who sought fame by burning down theTemple of Artemis.

AdjectiveEdit

herostratic ‎(comparative more herostratic, superlative most herostratic)

Most school shootings are personal. Often times the shooter has a grudge, whether genuine or imagined. I doubt you'd ever get one of them to change target and go after business executives.

We are to blame for tolerating this shit and shitheads like this. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

and he's fucked himself in the arse, because alternatives will be found, folk will stop buying it, and he'll have no money to pay for his hedge funds.

This guy already made bank, it's over. I hate to say it, but he already won. In the time it takes for the no names to come out, he'll already have recovered the cost to buy it, and can easily drop the price to shoo away the competition again. Once they leave, he can increase the price again, and keep the party going.

Doesn't he own the patent though? Would that mean that others can't produce a no name generic?

No, no he hasn't.

He is currently facing litigation from his old company, and now thanks to these shenanigans their lawyers discovery phase will probably go much smoother.

There's already an alternative, Bactrim is dirt cheap and works just as well, but no one has ever paid to get an FDA indication for toxoplasmosis because there's no money to be made and docs are using it off label anyway. The entire shitstorm was a manufactured media show.

Devil's Advocate here: It's his company and his product, why can't he do what he wants with it? Isn't that what the American economy is based off of, supply and demand? If people will still buy his product at an expensive price, who are we to say what he charges for his product?

we're not arguing against his right to do it. we're arguing against his morals.

it's fucking incredible how often people think "he shouldn't" = "he's not allowed." just think for yourself for one goddamn second

supply and demand doesn't work for healthcare/pharmaceuticals because demand is not negotiable if you need it. to put it another way, either buy this product at my price, or die.

supply and demand doesn't work

... when the supply is artificially limited by the government.

He can charge whatever he wants. But Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance don't have to cover it which is probably what happened.

I don't agree at all with what he did but this is a capitalistic system and he was just doing what he had to do to get his shareholders their money.

It is quite unfortunate but capitalism has a long history of putting wealth ahead of humanity.

This guy must think he's Andrew Carnegie or something. Sorry, the America where one man could monopolize everything is gone (For the most part). He'll just get steam-rolled out of business at this point.

before we crucify the guy (maybe justly) there are a few misconceptions thar should be cleared up. 1. he does not own the patent. his company simply has the trade secret of making it which any co. can copy if they want 2. not for aids. the drug is for toxoplasmosis which a parasite generally picked up from cats and has generally no symptoms 3. the new price falls in line with other comparable orphan drugs it is squeezing mainly health insurance cos not individual payers

its important to do research and not feed the outrage culture beast... we came here for a reason

(4.) It is used for AIDS patients who disproportionately are impacted by toxoplasmosis and have no other option but this pill for their malady.

"3. the new price falls in line with other comparable orphan drugs it is squeezing mainly health insurance cos not individual payers"

Squeezing health insurance companies drives up premiums for everyone because those cos have to make their profits too.
