The media has already release his name everywhere. It was a good attempt by the officer to prevent the shooter from getting more attention.

Yea CNN shows the clip of the sheriff making that statement, then cuts to the news anchor: "Well we DO have his name, and here it is! Here's how he stacks up against other mass shootings!" Like a fucking scoreboard. You'd think after that guy shot the news crew on camera they'd have a little more respect, but nope. Still assholes.

You mean the one where every media outlet trampled over her dead body to get the latest scoop before the last casing even finished hitting the ground? Yea who would've thought

Is there a reason they can't make it illegal to report his name? I mean the reason a lot of people do it is to be famous and cause hell. If they knew they would just be known as "that shooter" instead of near glorified for their actions perhaps it would cut down even a little on this nonsense.

It seems like it would be so simple to just make it illegal for public outlets to post name and picture. everything else is fair game, just not his name or face.

I have a hard time thinking people want to shoot up a school to "become famous and cause hell". It makes more sense to me if he was forced to do this so we could have a reason to blame ISIS (who we've been supporting while the rest of the world is fighting them off) and join the world in fighting against ISIS.

Every one of these mass shootings has been consistently linked to a major global political agenda. Charleston shooting, the guy had an Iranian flag on his jacket... Right at the time that Iranian nuke deal was going down.

I never understood why they don't report suicides because they don't want to glamorize suicide, but have no problem with mass shootings. Not that they can't report the shooting, just don't make the shooter infamous.

What if we tried having the media not report about these assholes for a while? Send a message that if you go on a rampage you will die forgotten and unknown. Take away the attention motive. I wonder if that would curb these nut jobs.

Fear makes it easier to control the masses. Also, it makes them not question the shit laws you are passing. Patriot act? You are a patriot right? Only a terrorist would NOT want this!

Yes, this would indeed help stop these assholes from shooting up schools and killing lots of people. But, if the media couldn't report on it, then how are they gonna make that money? If you stop over-sensualising every bit of news, there would be no news stations.

Don't use his name, now that is some serious justice.

Some people are smart.

Most people are fucking retards.

You can be sure those retards will do everything they can to make the problem worse.

How convenient. A mixed race (black+white) religiously motivated shooter isn't going to be named! Good thing he wasn't white or christian otherwise we'd know everything and his blood type by now.

I applaud this sort of response but somehow I don't buy the idea that people are all suddenly coming to this realization after two straight high-profile murder sprees by a black and half-black shooter.

You could almost forgive the fat-fingered typo, but that rogue apostrophe really augers it into the ground. Op went full retard.

Revisionist history does nothing to advance society.

Suppressing information does nothing to advance society.

This is as asinine as trigger warnings. If hearing someone's name or thinking that you too would like to be a mass shooter because it will make you "famous", then you were going to do something just as rash for some other reason and society ought to get around to dealing with you.
