Although the title of the link lead me here - I feel like the take home message was far greater. Putin gets it. Incredible speech.

I always felt shady about Putin, thinking he was just some kgb tyrant. Turns out he's very wise and open minded.

This is one thing that really I find a bit disappointing about the Internet, we have access to many news sources but people still keep going to the same western media. Is Putin a saint? Not a chance and you don't get to maintain power in any country without being ruthless and machiavellian. However is he the cartoon villain he is painted as, of course not.

The US (where I live) is really being played at their own game here, I find it very funny to be completely honest, all Putin has used in Syria is the exact same rhetoric and justifications the US has used for their interference in other countries. Now the shoe is on the other foot, they have to spin things differently.

I would guess this has been going on for thousands of years, but as a history major that studied the 20th century in detail, the 1st and 2nd world wars used all the same propaganda techniques we are seeing now, it's really uncanny.

Don't let this fool you. He is a tyrant. Yes he's telling the truth about NATO creating ISIS.

But please realize this: Russia and China are both ruthless authoritarian capitalist nations waiting in the wings to gobble up the ruthless authoritarian capitalist American Empire.

There are no good guys in this. I'm sorry to break that to you.

I feel like the state and defense departments are full of people with this delusion that the US can do no wrong and everyone else will just follow our lead. They grew up watching the Soviet Union fall apart and proceeded to rub what was left of the country's noses in shit taking all these former Soviet States into NATO and expecting Russia to just deal with it.

Pushing globalization as a way to further control the world, not realizing by doing this you are weakening the gov't while strengthening US multinationals. Assuming that when times get tough on the international stage, these corps will get in line but the reality is, they want to make money, period.

Nation building in the middle east, fueling the Arab Spring and then bitching about the outcomes as unknown unknowns.

Then wonder why our influence is waning in the world.

There is a void and Putin see a way to fill it.

It even has a name, not sure if you are aware of it but it's called American Exceptionalism, it causes these double standards to exist; other countries can not do what we do, when they do it it is wrong because we are America. Those mental gymnastics are quite funny to watch.

Yes, we have a huge military that kills people. But it is not the country. Syria is not Assad. Russia is not the FSB. There is just too much money in the houses of power here sadly.

Well then start despising your military. Stop giving veterans any kind of rebate. Ridicule your fellow American enrolling in the military. See what i mean?

Wow surprised how open-minded the people here at Voat are! Haven't seen such an intelligent, fact-based discussion featuring Putin and Russia on Reddit, ever.

What he didn't say but what he and a lot of people know is that there is a way too excessive jewish influence in the West these days. The way "our" foreign policy is handled is totally jewish. Israel is ultimately behind ISIS because it needs to get rid of Syria so it can expand to its Eretz Israel expanded borders. Israel treats wounded ISIS thugs in its hospitals. And notice which country over there has not been attacked by ISIS.

Does anyone believe this? Buzzzzard ...sounds like what Hitler would've said. He'd be SO proud of you. Maybe Ignorance is part of your Exceptionalism. (Scary that there are people like Buzzzzard and TREDDITFIRST, isn't it?)

Uh huh, and al qaeda was funded and trained by who?

You're woefully ignorant, so much so that I think you're just trolling or being sarcastic right?

I'd say it was Zionist influence, quite a lot of people I have worked with and are friends with are secular Jews and have zero love for Israel. There is also a large Christian support for Israel in this country as well, especially the "Jesus is coming back any day now" crowd as they need greater Israel for that to occur or some such nonsense.

I never thought of it this way, great points raised here. Thank you The reason why I can't stand Reddit anymore is because they all think alike, nobody has any original thoughts over there anymore. And if they do they are buried by the social justice warrior hivemind. Voat reminds me of the Reddit of 2007 before the teenagers took over.

I speak Russian, seconded; the mistranslations are not significant to the point of the overall message. At one point [2:44} he says, "They extract the oil, transport it, sell it" translation is "they start extracting the oil -- and this oil is purchased by someone" at another point [3:13] he says "they start extracting the oil--and paying more--and a portion of mercenaries will flow in from so called 'civilized' opposition forces--immediately they flow to ISIL, because they pay more" the subtitles say, "In areas where they started extracting oil and paying mercenaries more, in those areas, the rebels from 'civilized' Syrian opposition forces immediately joined ISIS because they are paid more." At 4:43 a more precise translation would be, "But, this should be done with actions, not words" or literal "But this needs to be done not with words but with action"

Just little things like that.
