I would imagine it's because they won't be able to make money off arrests for it much longer so they're take advantage of it while they can. This is all speculation obviously.

Yes, it is speculation, but it is a pretty safe bet. There is profit in locking people up in cages, therefore there will continue to be a need for police to have an easy way to incarcerate non-violent people. I am concerned with what comes next if/when the fed legalizes marijuana. What non-violent group of "criminals" will be targeted by the police next? File sharing pirates? Online "bullies"?

Maybe once they start smoking some weed they'll lighten the fuck up a bit.
I wish...but if that's the case jails will be more populated than ever.
