Facebook users continue not caring. I'm not sure what it'll take to get people to mass-deactivate their accounts.

That's how pretty much all communities are.

Funnily enough, that same analogy can be used for the migrants coming to Europe.

Yup, some rich programmer(s) or group should do this. Be what Voat is to Reddit. Also, take lessons from Google+'s failure. Incorporate Facebook into the new alternative site, somehow make all previous Facebook things linkable, that way you'll still keep yourself updated with "friends" who are still on Facebook. Maybe slowly, but surely they'll move away from that anti-free speech vehicle.

Reminds me of a Portlandia skit where Carrie erases her social media life and her friends ignore her. People probably think it's social suicide. Heck, they probably don't even think twice about why posts would be censored.

When my grandpa was a boy my country went from democracy to totalitarian tiranny in a matter of years; people didn't care too much back then. The average people don't want freedom, they want inconvenience-free security.

Let's be real, Facebook's already dying. It's mostly old people who use it now.
