Freedom of speech lost.

Every time you silence someone you make yourself a prisoner of your own action because you deny yourself the right to hear something. freedom of speech is meaningless unless it means the freedom of the person who thinks differently

Germany's government is so afraid of its past and repeating mistakes, that it has now gone into the extremes of the other direction; destroying what is means to be German and any semblance of nationalism, out of fear it will be accused of being racist/fascist.

I doubt it Germany. I would bet its the elite establishment who are just controlling whoever they can at this point. They've lost control of most of Europe and the US. This is the establishment that helped put Hitler in charge. The Germans just need to stand up for themselves on these types of issues. Eventually they will.

Well it looks like Europe is fucked. This is what happens when people sit by while their rights are eroded

And this is why Americans should never give up their guns.

As a german, I was always very irritated by the gun laws in the US and thought it would be stupid. Especially the argument that the people need to possess guns to be able to fight against their government. I finally begin to understand what you guys mean by that.

Rust never sleeps. The youth do not understand this simple concept. You could give an incompetent man control of an empire who harnesses the energy of the stars, and he will reduce his empire to dust if he is idle.

Europe is fucked, America is fucked, Australia is fucked, China is fucked, Russia is fucked, Africa, India, the middle-east and mexico have been fucked for ages, I haven't heard much about south-america, but I assume they are fucked in general. Guess that leaves Asia and Canada?

I am guessing if we stay on the current course, the US will have about 10-15 years behind Europe

Germany has a traitor in office who needs to be hauled out by an angry mob and made example of. Since I dont live there, Ill say that on their behalf.

Its clear where her loyalty lies

German Chancellor Angela Merkel received Israel's highest civilian honor Tuesday afternoon for her "unwavering commitment" to the country.

The country in that statement being Israel, not Germany. Elected leaders should be loyal to their people, period.

From the same article:

Past recipients of the medal include U.S. President Barack Obama, former U.S. president Bill Clinton and former secretary of state Henry Kissinger, as well as Israel Philharmonic Orchestra director Zubin Mehta and Holocaust survivor and human rights activist Elie Wiesel. read more: http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/1.576256

So I guess if receiving that medal (which is a gift) means being unloyal to your own country, USA has some cleaning to do.

Yes, they do. Correct. Look deeper into Kissinger before you decide who youre sticking up for.

Kissinger is a traitor who essentially made it possible for the Israelis to illegally obtain nuclear weapons capabilities.

Not mutually exclusive. Germany and Israel are allied nations last I checked.

Why would anyone ally with baby dick biters? Is that not straight up the definition of insanity.

JEWISH CUSTOM IS TO BITE BABY DICK SKIN OFF WHEN LEGAL!

Google it, disgusting. Can you look at those pictures and tell me the stories of child sacrifice and molestation don't hold some evidence of truth?

This an opinion piece you've linked to here written by a business editor no less and for a paper with a known conservative bias. That being said:

Did any of you even read the article despite it's poor translation?

"The decisive factor is common sense," says Eva Becker, Chair of the Working Group on Family Law in the German Bar Association (DAV). Anyone who say that it would prefer it if in his neighborhood no Syrian refugees were living, would thus not affect the child's welfare. Speaks a father or a mother, however before the child open a threat to refugees, it clearly exceeds or hence the critical limit.

Have a parent merely a controversial opinion, the rich is not sufficient to deprive him of the right of access or to restrict, the Notice.

This is not about "anti-refugee" remarks but more about speech deemed violent which, from those posts a determination is made that if a child resides in a home where such remarks are made then a check must be made to verify the child isn't in danger. The only part that tells of custody rights involves a case from 2005 (that has nothing to do with this refugee crisis) and this merely a custody battle involving two German citizens involved in a civil separation.

And even in that instance it wasn't just because he was "right-wing" but because the mother was in danger after no longer sharing the views of her former boyfriend and even so imposing your viewpoints on your child while the other parent disagrees, or for the purpose of hindering the relationship w/ the other parent, or hindering the collective education goals of parents have, is in direct violation of German penal code 1684, paragraph 2.

The are plenty of cases similar to this in the US and it is very common to use racist postings or other unsavory things to win more thoroughly in family court/custody battles.

Actually the Nazis were mostly cool with criticism up until the end. It was bad for your career but not actually dangerous.

What? Nazis were cool with criticism? Ever heard of Gestapo? They surely did not tolerate criticism towards the regime and got you arrested and maybe even executed.

You know nothing of Nazi history. So the brown-shirts who intimidated in Hitlers first rallies were just there for banter? Read more before you make stupid claims. Nazi history, from the get-go was full of coercion and intimidation.
