California isn't stupid. They see how much money Colorado made and now they want a piece of the pie. Hope other states follow this money train!

No, it's not. California is run by some stupid mother fuckers. and even stupider people are voting for them.

Yeah they're stupid, but any way to squeeze more money out of their residents is a path they'll explore.

The true problem is huge portion of the state makes a lot of money growing pot. Portions of the state that traditionally have shit economy. They earn their money tax free, the fact that its is quasi illegal allows a market control as lots of people won't grow, leaving it to those who would take a risk. I haven't read any proposition yet, but it had better find a way to address this reality other wise many people will lose their lively hood. A lively hood that in the last 10 years has gone from $6000 a pound to in some cases $1000 a pound. Colorado never had this size of infrastructure dedicated to pot so I feel its a bad comparison, even legalized they're still importing alot of our pot.

In their case they need the money. They are drowning in debt and they are already taxing the population out the ass.

Hopefully this time the medical growers stay the fuck out of the way with their greedy asses.
They're pretty much the only reason it's not recreational there already. They tried to pass a bill years ago when the progress first started and the medical growers lobbied up and shot it down because they felt like recreational would cut into their profits, which they lied about by trying to scare people into believing the quality would drop off a cliff because "now anyone can grow it, not just certified medical growers."

How sad is it that we're fighting against people who are supposed to be on our side, all for the same reason we have the fight in the first place, greed.

The status quo always objects to new competition.

True. Hopefully everybody's fed up enough with being broke as hell as a state so they'll actually put some force behind this motion.

We're laughing at you guys hard, I just want you to know that. We know you don't care but we want you to know you're the next joke state after Jersey. Get your shit together Cali you're looking like some jackasses.

You wouldn't eat a tomato not grown by a certified grower would you?

Oh boy, aren't we lucky?!? Our government masters are finally thinking about maybe allowing us to consume a plant? What ever would we do without their infinite wisdom telling us that it is now okay to do something we've been doing for thousands of years?

In CA, if you want to smoke pot, you can get some no problem.

Medical card costs 80$ and sites like weedmaps have countless spots to pick up from.

The only one getting fucked in all this is the CA government who doesn't get their taxes. This is largely because the dispensaries and delivery services don't want to have law enforcement up their ass (more than they already are).

So anyone can go and sign up for a card?

Basically, yes. You need a medical condition that Marijuana will help you with but Marijuana is so versatile there is a 100% chance it will help you with something. Helps sleep, pain, anxiety, depression, stress, lack of hunger, etc.

"No problem," except you're out $80 and your dispensary might get raided while you're there.

This very, very rarely happens these days. The feds send dispensaries letters that they aren't in compliance with the laws and the dispensaries close up and reopen a month later down the street under a different name.

Having lived in LA within the last few years, the four dispensaries within a block of my apartment led me to believe prohibition on pot ended a long fucking time ago in California.

It's amazing to me that Colorado legalized recreational pot before California.

Maybe they'll finally fix the roads and infrastructure with the new tax revenue.

The question is why didn't they have enough tax money from tech giants like Google and Facebook...oh wait, because they hide their profits in tax shelters through India and Ireland.

Or because the government is terrible at managing their money and or corrupt.

It may change in terms of taxes, but will it really change much of anything with regard to smokers?

They will be able to use it more publicly. Like sitting in a park instead of hiding in their garage.
