Or maybe marriage is much more important to women than men, and men always get the short end of the stick when marriage ends? Thus leading to men avoiding marriage in ways they never did before?

Oh, but you're right, its probably totally a continuation of the Liberal Phantom Menace conspiracy that's somehow been in power since Reagan took office.

When feminism rose to prominence in the west divorce numbers soared, but that's probably just a kooky conspiracy theory :)

Wherever feminism rises, divorce rises in it's wake, along with single-parent (mother) households and crime.

It could absolutely be a coincidence. The original rise of feminism occurred right around the same time we started holding on to stone age ideology a little less tightly.

Edit: what I'm saying, Brigadiers, is that we stopped taking divorce seriously in about the same time we started taking equal rights for women seriously. Divorce was only ever taboo because of the religious consequences. When we began easing up on the application of biblical morality, a lot of things shifted. Marriage's importance in modern society has been eroding for decades, and who's to say that's necessarily a bad thing? To blame the drop in marriages on feminists is an oversimplified answer, and grossly ignores the multiple factors at play.

Correlation is not the same as causation.

You could just as readily blame the divorce rate on the adoption of technology and social media.

Yea the fact that you have a hunch, a guess automatically makes you crazy and I dismiss your theory because it doesnt fit my view because I dont want it to.

Recent legal changes that have been pushed by the left h a be made marriage worse for men. No fault divorce and more generous alimony laws are great for married women(in general) but terrible for married men.

men always get the short end of the stick when marriage ends

Is there any evidence besides anecdotal that supports a bias against men in the court system?

Women win custody 85% of the time that it's contested.

Men make up 96% of persons ordered to pay alimony.

And this is in a world where the average 20-something female outearns the average 20-something male.

Still anecdotal but when my parents divorced the courts wanted to squeeze tons of money out of my dad. My mom didn't want him to have to pay the amount they told him and had to appeal to the courts about it. She makes more money than him.

On my phone, but studies showed women get child custody 80% of the time and 90% of alimony is men to women. I believe family courts are explicitly biased again men. Alimony is gender blind in theory, but men earn more most of the time.
