As a good looking, well educated, employed single male in his early 30's (and also snipped to ensure no "accidents"), I would like to thank feminism for creating a society where I have easy access to sex with multiple attractive young girls desperate for a man to support them.

Pointless unless your wife is loaded ;)

As a nearly 30 male who doesn't want to date a slut - fuck feminism for making it very difficult.

Hell; I remember seeing a 2 chromosomes about a girl who was asking a fairly normal question and a bunch of people kept trying to push her to get into one night stands.

Now the only girls who aren't slutty seem to be socially broken or super religious. Yup - nope to both of those.

I completely agree. I was dating my now wife for 5 years before we got married. The reason I proposed is because I was ready to start a family.

We now have a 2 year old and are going to try for another. That is the reason I got married.

I love how the article blames everything on men. Fuck that. Men are reacting to the way the world works now - and it's a raw fucking deal. Rather than trying to understand that, this woman just tries to shame men into accepting the bad deal.

Yup, having been through a divorce all I can say is "never again." I'm bittersweet on the assets bit, I get to pay my ex about one and a half McDonald's workers a year, but she's pretty good about spending it on our kid. But I have to wait another year or so in order to get my own VA loan benefits back from the refi or sale of my ex-house, and then I can start thinking about buying an actual place of my own (since like most men, I moved out). I'm in my mid-30s and having to wait to buy (especially using a benefit I earned in the desert) is pretty frustrating.

The marriage system is really there for one of two reasons: * To satisfy the requirements of various religions, which require cohabitants to marry each other (and secularism is on the rise) * To trap men into taking care of a woman forever after they've tied one down

Whether you want to just have a lot of partners or be romantically committed to a single partner, marriage has no place in the relationship other than as a gun to the head or an appeasement to the sky fairy of your choice.

When men choose not to, they are apparently "immature", "adolescent", etc.

My reason for staying single and not seeking relationships is because even if I did find someone I don't want to raise a child who has to grow up in our society. Something bad is looming and it's no place to raise a child. At this point its more practical to buy sex toys to serve those urges.

Yeah, it's really stupid. That's my biggest beef issue feminism. Like I can see the arguments from both sides, I have a sister so I can put myself in her shoes, but they say that men don't have some social standard to live up to and completely ignore that there are any problems that you might have as a dude, and you're just a pathetic loser if you do, or if you break the "masculine role". It's also complete BS that single men have a higher tax rate.

2
14

[–] Novius 2 points 14 points (+16|-2) ago  (edited ago)

Socialist gender roles for the men, individualist "special snowflake" for the women.

The problem is that post-industrial men never convinced women to be housewives with nothing to do, and post-feminist women will never convince men to be worker-husbands with work to do.

Half the problem was/is each gender speaks to the other as if there is no mental gender difference, women make "declarative sentence" nagging in their articles and men try to reason dispassionately about how women emotionally feel.

Or you're a faggot, not gay, but a faggot. Somehow it's ok for womyn to call men that for some yet to be explained reason.

I've had more than a few people ask my mother behind my back if I was gay because I'm in my early 30s and not married or at least shacked up with a woman.

At this point, my life would be a lot less complicated if I was gay. I've hear more than a few people say this. Imagine our grandfathers' hearing that.

Really, this is the crux of it. You wouldn't shame somebody for not signing a bad contract, so why is it seen as a moral failing to not get married. I think we're seeing some of the misandry of society poke through. Now that guys aren't playing the game anymore changing the rules doesn't do anything, so they are going to have to start tiring to punish guys for forfeiting.

You see the same sort of thing when as a man you refuse to do a difficult/dangerous task. When I was younger I'd let people shame me into doing things like operating hazardous equipment without PPE and getting up on rickety ladders to clean gutters. The looks I get when I opt out now--they just assume I'll help them move all their heavy furniture down a steep flight of stairs, 'cause I'm a guy.

Reminds me of the Bill Burr joke on marriage (which was not really a joke):

"Is this the line to lose my kids, over half my stuff, and my kids? Awesome. Look the line is moving'."

Note: losing half your stuff may be small compared to having to pay eighteen years of child support - 18 years x 12 months x $1,000 monthly = $216,000.

(emphasis mine)

Divorced and separated persons were over twice as likely to commit suicide as married persons. Being single or widowed had no significant effect on suicide risk. When data were stratified by sex, it was observed that the risk of suicide among divorced men was over twice that of married men .

And interestingly:

Among women, however, there were no statistically significant differentials in the risk of suicide by marital status categories.

I guess the real lesson is if you're single, stay single. Less risk.

Count me in that 70%. Nothing I've ever seen of marriage makes it seem even a little worthwhile. So you marry some woman because you're drunk or in love or whatever, you pip out a couple of kids with her, and then what? She divorces you once they're safely in college (or worse, when they're old enough to be coerced into going with her), and she takes you for all you're worth.

Meanwhile, she'll lie, spew negative shit about you behind your back, turn your kids against you, and spend the rest of your life fucking you for every penny she can get.

Marriage? Please, I'd rather take a beating with a brick.

[–] sumguy 15 points 24 points (+39|-15) ago

That, my friend, is 100% a man picking the wrong woman.

I'm married, have been for 11 years and with my wife for 15. No kids (I knew I didn't want any from the time I was 13~14, hasn't changed in nearly 3 decades, not even budged), and we discussed that while dating. She also didn't want kids... Check. No real reason for my wife to Want to divorce me, she's the bread-winner bringing home all the money while I provide other services (I do 99.9% of the cooking, cleaning, 100% of the vehicle and home maintenance, etc... I take care of her physical and emotional needs, she provides the money). Since I consider her quite attractive, and our sex life has Always been better than anything I had while single, we're happy on an intimate level.

There is ZERO negativity, no lies, just a happy, healthy, loving relationship. The way it's Supposed to be when the guy isn't a complete fucking moron when it comes to picking a girl to spend their life with.

As for the positives? Cheaper taxes, cheaper insurance, untaxed retirement/death benefits (being able to roll over IRA type accounts without penalty), social security benefits for widowers, etc... There are a significant number of legal benefits that all add up to retaining more earnings. Other benefits (pooling buying power) can be done outside of legal marriage.

There is a silent majority of married who are quite happy with their situation, deal with no abuse, no lies, no poison, and no threats over money. It's all in picking the right person....

[–] theoceansinthestreet 2 points 48 points (+50|-2) ago

You're just describing a good relationship, not making an argument for marriage. Your relationship would exist with or without the marital contract.

The point is that many people could think the exact same thing you do! Until they get a high paying job and their wife suddenly has her "I want to fuck other people" phase. Things change. People change. Why take the risk?

1
39

[–] Namrok 1 points 39 points (+40|-1) ago

I hate that "It's the man's fault for picking the wrong woman" answer. First of all, people change. Not always for the better. The right woman can easily become the wrong woman. Second, imagine if it was perfectly legal to beat and rape your wife, and people just said to women "Geez, looks like you picked the wrong man. My man is great."

0
12

[–] Bunny_Pope 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

Why take the chance though? Why not just be in a relationship without signing a government contract, which almost directly states that the woman is going to get the better deal if either of you backs out?

Or maybe marriage is much more important to women than men, and men always get the short end of the stick when marriage ends? Thus leading to men avoiding marriage in ways they never did before?

Oh, but you're right, its probably totally a continuation of the Liberal Phantom Menace conspiracy that's somehow been in power since Reagan took office.

It wasn't entirely the left, it's also an issue caused by greed, and it's usually the right that pushes greedy policies. Both parents have to work to support a family, so there's no time for a family to be a family.

Income has stagnated for the middle class, but it hasn't dropped (slightly risen if you count lower cost of goods).

The main problem is no fault divorce laws combined with a divorce system that favors women most of the time.

This is really neckbeard-y though, it's not really a big deal. Nobody ACTUALLY cares about it. It's kind of like the declining birth rate.

People freak out but this is actually the age of eugenics. I don't know of a single girl who has trouble getting dates or is worried about it, and not many guys are worried about it either. It's the older generation that is upset because things aren't going as planned, but in 10 years robots will replace a lot of jobs, so a declining birth rate is necessary. It's more like evolution.

And actually if you look at Japan they like the declining birth rate -- the problems are just because they have a bunch of retirees that are becoming a drain on their smaller and more efficient economy. But once they die off the rest are expected to get better benefits anyway - more room, etc.

This thread is kind of hilarious though because its a bunch of dudes like "Yeah! We got em! We're desirable! People care about us!" But it's not really true.

[–] swfreak 0 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago

I'm not scared of the decline in the population. The problem, at least in Europe, is that the shrinking native population of Europe is being replaced by mostly non western immigrants that don't share the western values and refuse to integrate.

That will lead to major problems in the future and threaten the prosperity and stability of the whole continent.

And before people call me a racist the increased terror threat against Europe and the many terrorist attacks that has already occured or been prevented can't be denied.

Nor can the economic non sustainability of the non western immigrant population be denied. If you still believe in multiculturalism you're in for a very rude awakening in my mind.
