There are times to defend a cop'a actions. This is not one.

Ok this article is so biased I don't know exactly what happened. Is someone sitting in parked car in a high crime area suspicious? Yes, can a cop ask for ID, arrest, search? No, however he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't ask to see if maybe the guy in the car needed help/up to no good.

So just watched the video. I just saw a cop acting calm and a person acting combative. The magic words are "Am I being detained or am I free to go?" Well the cop was clearly detaining him. The burger guy clearly escalated the situation.

That cops aren't a monolithic hive mind and that you are sure to find both good and bad people among them.

[–] weezkitty 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Except they are a hivemind. A hivemind the suppresses good people. Between the police unions and the way they mistreat other officers that report misconduct, it is pretty much the defintion of a hivemind

Frankly I think this was much more impressive :Virginia Man Exercises His Rights and Shuts Down Persistent Police – All While Eating Oatmeal

Both the cop and the dude in the video showed incredible patience. I would not have the ability to be in either of their shoes and act as calmly as they did.

holy fucking shit, that cop has mental problems. a sane person would not just keep knocking for three whole minutes. he's a fucking PSYCHO. this is why i hate cops. like he said, they have no life. they just go around fucking with people trying to instigate and escalate situations.

those cops wanted a reason to tackle that guy so bad, and probably wanted to kill him. cops are meatheads that have a hard-on for violence.

i love mr. Williams, here. that is a hero right there. got to be one of the coolest guys i've seen in a while.

[–] Scotcheggs 1 point 13 points (+14|-1) ago

Seems like American cops are very poorly trained. If they can't explain why they have stopped him and give him a specific infraction that he has commited then they have no reason to be there. Seems like they have difficulty taking ownership of the situation as well.

[–] Roy360 1 point 8 points (+9|-1) ago

Exactly, I would have gone crazy with all the knocking. I would have switched my car to I (Accessory) to blast some music, but then I would have been shot for trying to run over the officer.

That's fantastic.

I think our fine LAPD officers would have probably shot him, though.

“Do you have a firearm in here, Mr. Williams?” the officer asks.

“Plenty,” he responded as he showed the officer his concealed carry permit.

“Plenty?” The officer asks seemingly surprised.

“Dozens.” Williams boldly states.

“Hm? the officer asks.

“Dozens, dozens of firearms.” Williams asserts once again.

Amazing.

Wow. This is what is becoming of America. This guy may have not been doing anything wrong but clearly he was trying to provoke the police. Why not just show the id and be on his way. No because its all about pride.

Personal liability needs to be brought back for police. It's the only way they will stop their abuses.

Apologists say that police need freedom to act, and that personal liability will make them hesitate. WELL FUCKING GOOD THEN. They should hesitate. Every time they consider taking out their gun or making an arrest, they should be afraid of the consequences.

Why do people bother getting lippy with cops, it just makes it more fun for them to abuse you and not get punished for it.

"You are being detained" "I do not consent to any searches, I wish to speak to an attorney, I dont want to answer any questions"

Then shut the hell up, it makes it harder for them to fabricate a crime if they have no information to spin.

how to handle yourself around cops:

lower your gaze and do not hold direct eye contact.

say "sir" after everything and be respectful.

if a cop asks to search you without a warrant, consent immediately.

do not exercise any of your "rights," as this will only anger the officer.

offer your lubricated anus to the officer, so that he may relieve some stress.

say "i'm sorry" and "you're right" as often as possible.

do not record the officer. cell phones and cameras look exactly like guns, and you will be neutralized immediately.

when the officer is about to climax from penetrating your anus, offer to suck down all the semen. it shows respect for the brave officer.

One example that comes to mind is the Bundy Ranch Standoff: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundy_Ranch_standoff

TLDR: Rancher disagrees with Federal Agency as to whether the state of Nevada or said Federal Agency owns a massive amount of the land in Nevada. Federal Agency sends in armed officers, sets up "free speech zones", and tries to take rancher's cattle. Militia of rancher supporters face-off with Federal Agency. Federal Agency packs up and leaves.

[–] intrepiddemise 0 points 1 point (+1|-0) ago

They did take the rancher's cattle, arrested his son on trumped-up charges, and harassed the ranch owner. The "militia" you're talking about is the Oathkeepers, a group of former and current military and police veterans that have taken an oath to uphold Constitution of the United States. They're the same guys that handed out AR-15s to the peaceful protesters in Ferguson, MO and walked with them as they marched so they wouldn't be harassed by the local police.

dash cams are US$30 on ebay. buy multiple and place them on all sides of your cars/trucks/bikes. Don't tell the pigs they exist as they will likely be less likely to kill you if they know they are recording them. oh wait ...

there is a reason in Russia they need this. The difference being, you know where you stand with Russian police. Stern but fair and not likely to kill you out of spite.

[–] Mr_Wolf 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Don't forget to buy the largest micro SD card those cameras can handle.

I have a few dash cams ranging from $30 to $150 and they all function best on the largest card they can handle.

So how does it work, is it always filming and has the last 60 minutes on the card or something?

Not informing some one that they are be recorded could be a illegal wiretap in some states. Better look up the law in case
