Which is ridiculous. We have crumbling infrastructre everywhere, millions out of work, but can't connect the two why?

Because they money would have to come from private banks lent out with interest rather than the treasury department being permitted to print the money for the work to be done.

Ceding control of our monetary system to for-profit entities was a stupid as having for-profit health insurance.

Thank Woodrow Wilson for finally giving in to the banksters for that. It took them over a century of trying to get a private central bank installed (going back to the war of 1812 - thanks based Andrew Jackson!)

Am I the only one who wishes that all currency was controlled by a gov't entity rather than this private reserve crap that's meant to bleed us dry? With currency controlled by the central gov't, private banks would be bound to do their bidding. This assumes we have someone benevolent in charge. Having a gov't controlled central bank with a benevolent, competent, preferably long-term leader rather than a private CEO who wants to profit as much as possible would be great. I'd argue for nationalizing the banks and banning usury (the act of lending at interest) and putting just a small fee on loans as well. Fuck. Money would flow like water. Not a complete solution, but a damn good start.

You're not alone, but we seem to be in the minority. Distributed cryptocurrencies give me some hope. Because even though they're not government controlled, they're beholden to no one, which is arguably better in some ways. Benevolence isn't required when no one controls it. And since no one controls it you can't corrupt its controller.

Only if we return to a sound currency backed by tangible wealth. Without that check against inflation and government growth, nothing will change with the government running the printing presses.

You are literally a trickle off of a drop of water in the bucket. 99.9% of Americans could not even tell you what a Federal Reserve is. 99.9% wouldn't give a shit even if you told them. 99.9% of Americans won't give a shit until their life is directly inconvenienced in a way they are unable to proceed with their little pleb lifestyles of NFL and American Idol. I won't shed a tear when the system collapses for anyone. This country deserves the decade of tears to come and the pain that will follow.

Hold on there, Paul von Hindenburg, printing money is a retarded way to build infrastructure. The monetary problems we have are rooted in history. If anything, we should allow private currencies.

Like the federal reserve notes? That went well. Unless you mean bitcoin. That actually is going rather well.

The government created money to prevent a meltdown and it continued to create money to prevent deflation.

Creating money doesn't actually involve printing it anymore.

Yes because politicians would do so much better running things. Politicians have no real motivation to do the right thing beyond the next election. At least when private business screws up heads roll and money is lost. To be fair though the CEO problem with the golden parachutes and stuff is something that needs to be addressed.

They are just taking the unemployment benefits regular Americans don't want.

And NEVER forget: Full employment = 3% unemployment = Wage growth.

What we have here today is a policy to flood the labor pool and that is why you are NEVER going to get the pay raise you should have had some 4 decades ago.

Trump or Bernie.

Those are the only choices if you are a worker and want to crack open/dismantle the neo-Liberal agenda of open border labor policies and bad trade deals.

I'm guessing here, but I'd say that people aren't rejoining the workforce and their unemployment benefits are just running out, which means that the unemployment rate is dropping.

Full employment = 3% Unemployment = Wage growth

If you do not see wage growth then you know that you have high unemployment. It is really just that simple.

Don't let them or anyone lie to you about our having healthy unemployment numbers! This is a disaster x 4 decades.

I have known, and know ACTUAL people who have been on unemployment for years. That system simply does not work. We as humans aren't all that complicated when it comes to this, when you give a person an easy way out... they are going to take it, in the vast major of cases.

unemployment rate != labor Participation Rate

This number includes retired people, teens 16 and older in highschool or college living off student loans, the disabled, and stay at home parents. The population is rising, just like every hurricane is causing record damage because there are more homes that are worth more, there are more retired people living longer and more people on disability.

Will you trust this article or Obama?

If Obama lied about something as easy to verify as the unemployment rate every news outlet would be all over it, not just "cns" news.

This faith you have in the media is misplaced. It exactly how people like the Clintons can get away with 'I didn't have sex with that women' and I'm sorry you were confused about my private email server. There's no small amount of lies that happen in government every day that never go reported because to do so is to loose access. The illusion of an independent media is just that. This is the reason traditional news is dying and social media as a news source is on the rise.

4 decades of Neo-Liberalism brought to us by Free Trade Zombies.

4 Decades of too much labor for too few jobs, declining wages, growth of wealth inequality, outsourcing to China and the 3rd world.

You have two choices to correct this: Bernie or Trump. That is it. You will ensure our continued decline by voting any other way.
