an act of unlawful defiance that has made her a hero to the religious right and a villain to progressives.
Ah, no. The one thing I am not is a progressive (evil SJW type folks)--I'm a libertarian. But, that doesn't stop me from considering her a villain. The government cannot discriminate or impose religious tests for anything so this woman is simply refusing to do the job she is paid to do. She should be fined double whatever she is being paid until she decides to do her job or she resigns--putting her in jail would simply cost taxpayers more money and not resolve the issue.
