Going from 18 to 162 stores overnight is going to bring severe problems.

But, blaming their pricing decisions on "what Albertson's told them" is ridiculous horsecrap.

I worked as a floor manager and later an executive for a small, independent 6 store supermarket chain, and we had a person whose sole job was traveling to competitor's stores and checking pricing. Each morning, the app would grab 200-250 items, print out a worksheet with current pricing and a place for competitor prices, and the person would go to stores and write them down. Everyone does it.

We would have Kroger employees come to our stores to do it. They would be all embarrassed about it, so we would go find them, chit-chat, offer to help them find items to make their jobs easier, etc.

So when one of the biggest issues in their failed rollout was "Albertson's told us the prices to use, and we didn't know any better", it's their own damn fault for not doing even a whit of research or validation or due diligence. Sorry, not sorry.
