Yeah the videos need to be recorded by a third party. Can't trust the police

A transparent third party that makes the recordings accessible to the public. Unfortunately in the US, money does way too much talking to make things that easy.

I'm not sure you'd ever be able to achieve that. The closest compromise I could see is internal affairs. Considering they investigate dirty cops that might be the closest thing to an impartial investigation that would be allowed in court or as a law

IA?? A recent beating victim from an illegal police raid would be more impartial... IA is almost worse than having the cop hold the footage himself.
