As a long-since inactive Marine I think I speak for us all on this subject when I say, "Yeah, so what? This is what we do and why we do it." This is not an every day thing, which is good, but I think most Marines - even Lady Marines, would act the same way. Also, I've shared more than one "Marine Joke" in Tun's Tavern itself, we have a sense of humor.

'79 - '83 and '88 to '92. I loved me some of that GI Bill. I do wonder if there will be complaints that the Marines were too violent or how these actions will be twisted to make it seem as if America is the bad guy in this. I'm sure someone is doing mental gymnastics, right now, to reach those conclusions. It won't be their government's position but, having been to France, I'd not be surprised to hear it is a view held by a portion of the populace.

And, equal to or worse, some American is thinking that this means the French are weak, unable to protect themselves, and likely to surrender.

BBC article- seems like much more info here-

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34023361

Shooter was a 26-year old moroccan

Edit: Article has been heavily edited since I linked it, odd. It only tangentially mentioned the french actor at the end of the article originally.

The problem with their immigration is that those immigrating are supposed to assimilate into the culture. Which these people simply cannot do.

Anyone ever stop to think. Maybe this isn't immagration? Maybe it's an invasion by a force that has no chance of overpowering with traditional military?

Twice in this article does it praise the heroism of the french guy who cut his hand setting off the alarm.

I found that odd as well. The marvelous, wonderful, heroic alarm pulling man.

Shit, you wanna team up and make a comic book?

Very odd, it originally didn't mention him except at the end as another person injured by breaking the glass. The article has been edited quite a bit.

To be fair, there are practically no facts to report as nothing has really been released and the french guy is famous.

The decision of whether or not to pull an alarm can be intimidating. Some of us fight the urge everyday ; )

BBC is the UK government's Ministry of Truth. They're like the New York Times with a British accent.

No surprise, another foreigner. Putting aside my racism, when there's a massacre it becomes trending news, but happy endings like this will get buried with the rest, until the next incident.

So far the biggest massacre in recent history in Europe was perpetrated by a blue eyed, blonde haired local...

That's pretty awesome but why should I care that some actor cut his hand breaking the glass to sound the alarm? It's even repeated several times in the article @Truly linked, kind of ridiculous.

It's the greatest act of french heroism since The Mole's self-sacrifice to save Terrance and Phillip

I'd usually call it out for being in /v/news but since it's breaking (and someone linked BBC above) I'll allow it.

Sad that these soldiers do a better job at policing than the actual police, even when under fire.
