I think it's more appripriate to say it resonates with desperate people, people who feel they're entitled to services while making minimal contributions of their own.

Well, I'm sure the Samoans aren't breaking out the welcome mats in droves - but then again, when your economy was hit hard by a minimum wage hike, I doubt you're going to eye the guy calling for a double dose of the same venom with the same glee as college students who aren't willing to put in the effort to understand exactly how they're being screwed.
