Who the hell registers on a site like that using a Government email? What the fuck.

Seriously. If they signed up with their government email, they deserve to be caught.

That's what I was thinking. I can understand playing a joke on a friend by signing up their email address but this is far beyond that.

That would be one fucked up asshole of a friend. That wouldn't even be a prank. That's like a crazy break-up-their-marriage revenge scheme.

Also, yes. They were/are stupid. Deserved to get caught? I don't know... I feel like any kind of doxxing is pretty fucked up. Their SO's deserved to know(assuming they didn't) but not like this.

The idiots of the Government

An email address is not a way to identify anyone on Ashley Madison. You can sign up with any email address you want, there is no confirmation email sent for verification. Since public office email addresses are exactly that, public, anyone could use them to register. Nothing to see here.

As a side note, my brother used to sign me up for sites all the time using my email. And if my girlfriend is reading, I think one of them might have been Ashley Madison.

Except they called the phone number tied to the accounts and asked if it was so and so and they said yes. So there's that.

Right, but the article didn't call the government officials, they just called six (6) names from the database. Also, anyone can put a government officials phone number.

I'm not implying that there are NO government officials, but rather that the headline is stating something that doesn't mean anything other than "public email addresses used to sign up for Ashley Madison".

Yeah, it isn't like government employees phone numbers are publicly available. Since government email addresses are usually some form of firstname.lastname@agencyname.gov it would be really difficult to track their number down. /s

This is why I'll never truly believe in a globalist conspiracy. People are way too stupid to pull something like that off.

Maybe that's their plan all along. Make you think they are too stupid to pull it off to keep you from being an anomaly they couldn't account for.

Oh really? The NSA or some other organization couldn't have used this as a ploy to increase control over the internet?

It's not a "conspiracy", it's just greed... and we're all complicit. Some are more actively evil about it, but we're all guilty to some degree. Most of us don't have a lot of choice in the matter.

I wonder how long it's going to take for someone to make out a FOIA request on all government communications with Ashley Madison?

And for them to turn around and say they can't comply because: 1. National Security 2. They can't find the email servers. 3. They finally found the servers, but were unfortunately erased. 4. Servers were accidentally also shredded. 5. Remains of said shredded email were buried with radioactive waste, but will be available only after rigorous and complete radioactive decontamination in August of 3215.

Hillary doesn't even use her government email for high level work and these people abuse it when they can get a gmail account. Bizarro world.

It's pretty much impossible to fire a government employee. Why not use your work address?

But even government employees have friends that like to play practical jokes.

Not if their security clearance is pulled over this. It's quite easy to fire them then.

I'm not even surprised, and why should anyone be for that matter? What did surprise me is there weren't more than 10k.
