So just because someone wasn't born in America they're not allowed to believe in the same things as Americans?

(He, not she) Also, no offense to British people, but a British person arguing against the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution strikes me as very ironic. Bro, this is one of the reasons we are not part of Great Britain in the first place. It kind of gives us carte blanche to believe and say just about whatever we damn well please.

I don't know if Sanneh is a US citizen or not, but even if he is, you have to question whether he's culturally American if he's that critical of our Constitution.

Think I misunderstood the point being made here, as arguing that because she was literally not born in America, she shouldn't comment. Fair enough

Fair enough, but you can still be not an American, and believe in the principles of the free speech can you not?

Just because a non-Westerner moves to a Western country, they don't all of a sudden become a Westerner. Western societies are, by definition, societies composed of Westerners. The more America gets filled up by people from the Orient, the less American it will be (I'm using "Oriental" in the proper sense, as in "not Occidental"- not as is "Asian," so don't crawl up my ass about it)

That depends what you mean though - no matter someone's place of birth or ethnicity, I would consider someone who believes in Western values and tries to follow the tenets of Western culture a Westerner. Someone moving to a Western country won't make them Western, but if they try to follow the values and beliefs of the country they live in, and succeed? Sure
