Once again mental health plays a role in unnecessary violence. Luckily this time no gun was used so that excuse can't be used.

And yet the conversation will be a non-starter as a result. When guns are involved, everyone blames the gun while pro-2's speak logic on mental health. When no gun is involved, the pro-2's still speak logic while everyone blames something illogical like race, economics, or other ways to dance around the actual issue.

I'm Canadian and have no "right" to a gun and even I know it's a mental health issue. It's not fucking rocket surgery.

Can we all agree that it likely sucks to be Morgan Freeman right now? Screw the color issue. For now, at this moment, it sucks to be him - no matter how famous and wealthy he may be.

It's funny that people cry when races are labeled "why do we always have to make it about race". Now you cry when race isn't mentioned "Must be about a specific race". stfu already.

No race given for the perpetrator? We all know what that means.

Yes. The primary suspect has already been apprehended so no description is necessary.

Article:

A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, police said. Police said that he was being treated as an emotionally disturbed person and that no charges have been filed at this time.

I know this is terrible, but I can't stop thinking on how awesome must be to have Morgan Freeman give a eulogy at your funeral.

I'm not gonna say "lucky her" but damn

Holy shit, I lived on w 163rd, one block away. God damn. We had some oscar guy living in the garbage between buildings, and drug dealer lookouts on the corners at all hours. The police didn't do shit or give a fuck. I ignored them, they ignored me.

Hell I even went jogging @ 5am and it was fine.

Fuck.

Congrats. I don't live there now, so I don't see how that is going to help you.

161st and Amsterdam was a 2nd home for me for many years. My aunt used to take me to the Woolworth's all the time.

Edit: Late 70s - 90s. I know Woolworths isn't there anymore.

Just unnerving in that I did a lot of dumb stuff like stumbling home drunk @4am etc I could have easily been killed... Unless she was killed by someone she knows then there is no escaping that. Just strange to read the address and it's like shit, I was around the corner!

Regardless of all the racial implications there may or may not be with this, I just can't help but feel bad for Morgan Freeman.

Yeah, he treated her like a grand daughter. Could you imagine what is going through his mind now? "what if i paid for rent in a safer neighborhood"? "what if i used my pull to get her a better job in a safer town?" So many what ifs to have going through your mind.

Is Washington Heights a sketchy area? They say the killer was "Emotionally Disturbed" so I'm imagining a street nutter wandering around, and she made the mistake of making momentary eye contact.

I think anyone that chops up another human with a knife not in self defense must be emotionally disturbed.

Hard to say, there is really bad areas and multimillion dollar townhouses/apartments literarily one or two blocks apart.

Two questions:

Do you know what they must have for security? Do you they live there or is it just one residence that they visit for short times, if at all?
